You can pass time (or read a book), etc. but (like it used to be) the bear won't be in the same place once you're done

A related question; when a bear is bow-hit with an arrow it tends to begin an attack, but often a quick second bow hit will cause the bear to flee...at this point, is it safe to pass time or is the first attack still a threat while passing time?
(In other words, can we turtle by just passing time) :coffee:

I like to explore, so I'll eventually take a deeper look there, but at the moment I find Hushed River Valley to be the least attractive region, and was curious to hear your thoughts about it.

HRV is unique in that it is a new unexplored territory that allows you to play the game "for the first time again".

    • No permanent structures, (so caves and snow shelters gain importance).
    • There is a slightly different hierarchy of needs, (warmth as a resource and light as a resource).
    • The exploration of the unknown is also enhanced exploration, ( "3-Dimensional region" ).

Extremely rewarding experience on Stalker, and challenging experience on Interloper. Good luck. :coffee:

It's been this way for some time.

This screenshot is from one of my very favorite fatal mistakes from long ago.
I was looking through the window cut into the fishing hut door, trying to locate the nearby wolves, and this Alpha jumped at the window and sent my character into the long dark.

Bedrolls decay faster than most clothes under all circumstances, and quite a lot faster than some.

True story @stratvox, bearskin bedroll decay rate is 10X the rate for other crafted animal hide clothes. Fortunately the bearskin bedroll was easy to repair, (after being stored for 244 Days), as compared to the time needed for crafting. Thanks again for the help my friend. :coffee:

always pick it up in the morning and then drop it rolled up if you're going to not have it with you

I recently returned to a Stalker Run from pre-vigilant flame update and patch, (Approximately 330 days). When I opened the metal container under the bed at Trapper's Homestead, I was very surprised to see all my crafted clothes, (from early game days), in good condition, (90% or better), but my bearskin bedroll, (packed away new and never used), was down to 44%.

So something is going on but this observation offers little help in narrowing the vector in terms of why the bearskin bedroll decay rate seems rapid.

PS: I gave you a well deserved +1 @stratvox, as a sincere thank you for the excellent advice to keep bedrolls rolled-up while not in use.

    Good luck my friends! :coffee:

Hovering over the "In Progress" text

Good morning @scuttlebum, glad to see you have had some time to play. While the in-progress hourglass is new to me, I have always wondered why the bow crafting never uses the full time. (IE: When I try to craft for a full hour it will stop at 0.87 hours for no reason; /did not get dark/hungry). The fractional crafting time has never created a problem except that I must craft again to complete the remaining fraction of time. Good luck my friend! :coffee:

PS: I did the opposite once though. Crafted the bow and arrows at ML then went to Milton. Late at night, I hiked to the plane crash because I needed the "top-tier-loot" from the abandoned cars. Got swatted after shooting the bear at the bridge and did not notice my bow was missing from my pack until a few days later when I had a beautiful chance to take the bear at "Un-named Pond" back at ML. Big lesson learned for me.
