Comparing notes on shadows

I like to play with video settings on 'ultra' but notice that I can see tree shadows even on foggy or very overcast days, and I can even see tree shadows inside "Dave's Quiet Place".

Is this a problem everyone has?

Ideally I'd like shadows to be visible only when/where the sun is unobstructed.

Shadow rendering has some issues right now. I frequently see them bug out inside the houses and cabins, when looked at from the right angles. Also looking around outside sometimes you get the bug where the shadows are gone and then all the sudden back in a fraction of a second, usually from rolling over grass at just the right angle. Beats me what is causing that.

Yes I experience this as well. The only workaround I've gotten to work so far is turning settings to 'medium' :?
