How Rare is a Hatchet?

I've been a good many of places in my current playthrough. Trapper's Homestead, Mystery Lake, The Forestry Outlook, practically the entire region of Coastal Highway and I'm pretty sure I've gone to Pleasant Valley though I'll have to check again. But I can't seem to find a hatchet. Anywhere. 3 Rifles but no hatchets. Why are they so hard to find? They used to be in every house or at least in the main areas, now it's as if they've just vanished.

Wow ive never went that long without findind a hatchet.

Only thing i can suggest is to check all the hunters blinds./ corpses usually have one.

One i can say for sure is the spot in DP where you find the bow. Cant remembert he name ,but there will be a corpse that has a hatchet everytime ive been there atleast. Or if its not atleast you will be close to the forge where you can make a few improvised hatchets,with scrap, and cloth i think.

Thanks for the advice, I haven't even gone to Desolation yet. It sounds like I've done a lot but I'm only on day 23 or so, I just do a lot of traveling all at once. But again, thank you for the advice.

ive always find at least 1-4 of each hatchet knife rifle idk seems like maybe you just missed it they can be hidden by bodys in trunks of trees and ive even found one besides the fishing nets in Ch
