How long birch bark have been in a game?

Today came upon birch bark, in the ravine. When was this introduced? cant tell if it has better fire starting % than tinder because i have 100 fire starting skill. Does anyone know if its better than tinder? I think it weights more than tinder.

All tinder, cat tails, birch bark and tinder plugs, weights 0.05kg per piece, they also have the same success rate when starting a fire.

I think its in the game since the deep forest update but thats only a guess...
