Deer wont die

so i had nine rounds and needed guts i went up and shot the same deer everytime not once did it bleed till it ran past me and i shot it in the butt then started to bleed and died?? is it just me or are they hard to kill because im sure i aimed nicely and shot it atleast 2 times

The rifle can be a real pain to shoot accurately. I have shot a deer at close range in the head and heart, only to have them run off. I don't hunt deer anymore. I drive deer into a wolf. Either wait for the wolf after feasting or goad it into charging. If I need the wolf pelt or the extra materials, I goad the wolf, take a knee and shoot the wolf right before it jumps. Dead.
