CarlaRis
For many people, BlackRock is a horrible place to stay, even in a short term. They flee from there and I understand why: timberwolves and foggy blizzards are the worst. But, for the same reason, I think it is convenient to highlight the best possible places to camp, for those brave people who want to settle there for a while. I'm now in the penitentiary, inside the bus, near the ammunition workbech. You can't tell me it's not a great shelter and cover. I already unlocked the workshop door, fired up the oven and, fiveteen hours later, I have 37 rifle ammo rounds, 46 revolver rounds, 29 black chalks (or whatever it's called) and cabin fever. It is a good place for me. Another upside is the fence that isolates you from the wolves, allowing you to dose the game / food without much risk. What is your favorite place? Which one would you recommend in BR? 5
James Hickok
When im in Blackrock i tend to have a few safe bases around like the one in: The trailer near Bear's bend The Office in the enterance to Prison But my personal favorite and always main base in Blackrock is Bricklayers retreat. It's very easy to go everywhere from there and go back. It very close to the regions exit. It full of food around. You can get a moose spawn, deers spawn here as well, there are rabbits behind the cabin, and timberwolves that are easy to shoot from the "porch" oh and a bearcave close for Cabin fever and bear meat I like staying there. I would really like to be able to fix the door tho Maybe in future updates if they come (i hope !!!) Can you get cabin fever inside a door-less hut? Looks great. I'm thinking of setting up a base at the transmitter post, near the path that leads you to PV, but, for some reason, I hate that transition region. I would rather the base is around the TM maze caves; from there you can easily reach Mountaineer's Hut and link to the PV.

You , just exit the hut, pass the small "marsh" going left towards the road. Pass the car that is there and have a quick look where the timberwolves are (they tend to be around the corner to the right just after you pass the car. From the car keep on the left side and in a moment there will be a vine climbing spot. Its like a 3-4 minute hike. From there you can go to twm. I prefer the transition via TWM - Passing thru keepers pass takes to long imo and you end up in the left side of the canyon in BR. You still get cabin fever in the hut but the beare cave is very close - 2-3 min hike. Overall i think that the area on the right side of the canyon is a better spot to live - its easy to go everywhere from there via one way shorcuts.
hozz1235
@CarlaRis, looks like you've got a pretty well-established base there! That location is a good idea. And you have interior locations extremely close by to cure items. Now if you could climb out of the clinic window, you could snipe wolves to your heart's content. Personally, I haven't spent too much time in BR, but I would probably pick someplace a little more remote - perhaps the substation. Workbench, interior, cooking barrel and caves close by for CF.
Leeanda
Cabin fever not being an issue I usually use the main entrance in the prison but I do also use bricklayers for a few cosy days while I'm there. On this run I do have a stocked prepper cache too so I might spend a night or two there..
Semple Fi
@CarlaRis that’s a really good set up, I’ve NEVER tried lighting a fire in the bus…. Learn something new everyday. I typically pick that same spot in BLK, but I sleep in the truck. The quick access to the steam tunnels makes it appealing too, as a short cut to a wide range of the map. I am fond of the radio shack too.
