bear spear issue?

I'm currently stuck on the spear mission. When I get to the lodge I can grab it from the mantle, the cutscene plays, then the thing disappears, the quest does not update and looking at the (empty) shelf it says "broken bear spear" like before, just without the option to interact with it. Any idea what's going on or how to fix this?

No, after the cutscene ends it gets holstered immediately and isn't anywhere in my inventory.

Alright. Sorry I can't help. I've never done story mode.  It was just my first thought.

As I recall, the spear inventory wasn't coming in. I remember he was standing around where he found the letters and put them. 

The head of the bear appears in your inventory, but you can't use the wee until you do.
