The loneliness of long dark is littel bit boring so A dog gurde that you can save frome abandon skimo slide but really rare to to find and also you must feed it several time to gain it trust then is will fallow you every where scare away some predators but may get injerd you must heal it and feed it  and pet it time to time to kip it loyal it can hunt rabbits and track your hunt.

I think that all the animals are affected by the magnetic event thing (i didn't play story yet), so raise a dog or puppy may be impossible. Not sure.
