More Salvage from Used Items

I'd really like to see empty soda and food cans being used as a source of scrap metal. I have to imagine that if I were in that actual situation I would save my cans and attempt to use them to craft hooks, shivs (for defense against wolves) or just scrap metal to use in repairs. Obviously, there limits to how realistic this game can become, but not having anything left after emptying a can of pork and beans just seems odd (this would make sense if every can were smashed open, perhaps).

While I think it would be nice to have some use for empty cans (both soda and food), using them as scrap metal would seriously unbalance the game.

perhaps empty cans can be used to make more efficient fires outside, but only be used maybe 3 times before breaking

One thing that I've noticed is that when harvesting a Storm Lantern that still has fuel in it, it only harvests scrap metal but not the kerosene, a total waste not to save that in a used bottle or can (or if you have a jerry-can, fill it into that).

If you have a jerry can in your inventory with enough space, the kerosene will go into that jerry can when harvesting a lantern.

Perhaps combining gut and empty cans could create windchimes that allow you to dissuade wolves and deer from going into an area, or you could use it as a way of corralling rabbits for later consumption.

any kind of wolf repellent would be a good addition if you ask me. A way to keep them away from my base would be excellent!
