I presume because TLD is a darker, subtlly shaded game, and proper backlighting helps get the most out of it?

I don't have backlighting for my PC monitor, but I added it to my TV and wow is it nice when watching movies.

Ah you mean like Ambilight?
I have a custom build variant of that on my gaming pc. It makes the game even more immersive (in a dark room of course).

Oh wow no its not that but that looks cool too.

Backlight is when there is light inside the screen coming out to you so its not perfectly black as it should be.

Aah I see. I don't really get why that would be a good thing for TLD though.
I would expect a AMOLED to be better for playing such games.
