Ice Hole
There is a need for other uses for rabbit pelts otherwise they are just piling up. Maybe another use for rabbit pelts could be as lining for fur coats, bearskin bedroll, deerskin boots and leggings. So after the item is produced lining is then added. This would increase the warmth bonus and weight.

ArmagedDan
I was thinking about this exact thing while playing my long-term Stalker save, where I have a locker stuffed with 'em from putting out two traps a night. There should definitely be more alternatives to manufactured clothing, and the obvious two-for-one solution that jumps out to me would be a rabbitskin scarf. Using small animal fur for that sort of wear has some historic precedent. And what with being an entire scarf, it could soak up a bunch of furs - maybe requiring 6 or so.
