  1. I'm scared to decide if I want the cougar in my current save, but i'm so excited at the same time !!! So new and refreshing and scary and gratifying. Well done guys. One thought : I never use the ballistic vest, but I think it just found its purpose for me. Cougar hunt, here I am ! Maybe, if I find the courage 😅 For people like me who are not sure about activating the cougar, go watch the Zaknafein video, very helpful.
  2. Also to reply, I'm a mystery lake camp office fan, I feel very safe and chill there. I also feel safe at the mounteneer's hut on crystal lake, but nothing like the familiarity and security of mystery lake.
  3. Hello, I don't know if the subject exists on the forum, but I've been wondering : where do the location names come from in the game perspective, in survival ? Does the surviver name them on the spot depending of their feelings ? It's the most convincing explanation, as you don't have a map to begin with, and a lot of names have a feeling attach to them like bleak inlet or are very descriptive like coastal highway. But does it include the places with a family name in them ? (like thomson's crossing, with the thomson's stew...) Is it possible they remember them ? Or a bit of both ?
  4. I dreamnt about the cougar the night after the diary release, and it was something like that ! Mostly the scratches on trees. I hope the reality is less scary than this dream though ! 😱 Since then when I'm playing I'm realizing that I will have to really change my gameplay and switch regions way more often (because my play style is soooooo slow), but yes I'm really curious about the exact delays...
  5. Yes you are right, I edited my post in between ! By the look of it, I have a feeling that you won't be able to shoot it from afar and that it will be a struggle of some sort. But it's just a vague feeling...
  6. This question is answered, it will be gone for a while but not forever ! Edit : I'm sorry, this is not exactly true, I guess we'll have to see what actually killing it does -- I feel that this cougar is targetting slow players like me, I don't know if it's good or bad yet, but it will definitely shakes the game for me.
  7. Some people will spend summer in the snow 😉 Amazing changes ! I need time to process !
  8. I added Arid on steam, thank you again Pancake ! You're welcome Sherri, I'm glad you enjoyed it !! By the way, this video summarizes exactly what I'm afraid of with Subnautica : it's not the jump scares so much as the mere idea of these leviathans rooming in the dark if you venture too far away (I barely can watch this part of the video, it's awful), this oppressive feeling as you dive further down, between the light fading and the oxygen level falling... But the video also summarize why I would want to play anyway ! Like it took time for me to domesticate TLD... And I'm still easily stressed out playing it but I love that sublime feeling !
  9. I'm very excited ! The begining of the year was very calm but I have huge hopes for the rest. Can't wait to read you guys. And I'm also very hyped and curious about the home customisation, and terrified by the couguar. Hope they come together, we'll see !! 😁
  10. Thanks for your replies, I feel you ! That's it, I'm never playing it ! 😅 I actually watch a great video about the relation between the two games, if you're interested ! It connected it through the concept of sublime.
  11. I see the struggle, and i figure your life on internet (and obviously IRL) must be generally difficult as a transwoman. I feel and hope though that these traits are not very looked upon by the majority of TLD players. By this tranquil and slow pace, TLD is a game that attract more subtle gamers I think ? More calm and thoughful... For the technical parts, I think my favorite TLD youtuber admited that I doesn't like the tapping against wolves. I've seen countless times on the forum people saying "meh, everybody plays the way they want, there is no wrong way if the games allows". Never saw hostility to newcommers either. Edit : i don't want to look like I'm dismissing your fears though. I feel that all of them are valide and you might meet hostility on these. Just wanted to be reassuring and express my trust in this particular gamers community.
  12. Thanks for your reply, Pancake Lady ! I think i will try it eventually, in fact one of my sharing steam friends do own the game. The scary edges sea monsters scares the hell out me though, even in video. I'm even scared by the shark in Raft 🥲 Beyond the jump scare aspect, I think it makes me feel very vulnerable ? Something about the 3 dimensions also... Anyway, when I try it I will see for myself, and I appreciate your advices (i think The forest has something similar, but I would want to try the real thing for both I think ? And then maybe switch if necessary).
  13. I share your opinion, loved don't starve and DST with friends, and not big on jump scares either. In fact, i must admit that i'm very easily triggered, and TLD is way enough emotions for my faint heart. For example, I want to try subnautica for a long time but i fear that it might trigger my fears too much. I would like to try other games from that list though ! However, Project zomboid is a very interesting game in my opinion (but way too difficult !), and a close friend of mine is obsessed with Cataclysm, we often exchange on the very different qualities of our favorites survival games. This is definitely a wide genra, that can easily branch with other types of games.
  14. Hello, i created my account when you opened that thread Raphael, because I'm definitely a lurker ! Like others have said, i don't engage much in forums and I don't create a lot of accounts in general. But i'm willing to at least sign up for this one, because my friends tease me about the time I spend "in the snow" aka playing TLD. I've been playing for some time now and this game is one of my favorite if not my absolute favorite, and I often thought I could had my own opinion here but I always end up reading that someone has wrote exactly what I thought, and I don't feel the need to engage in conversations. I mostly don't agree on the toxicity here ; for an online community, I'm often amused by the tone used on this forum, very precise, constructive and conflict avoiding. When the last update came out, I had a lot of fun lurking on an embryo of dispute that the two persons involved resolved themselves with haste and grace. But of course, like this general discussion indicates, there is always some negativity and anger, and problems of communication and understanding especially in writing 😅
