  1. I totally agree. They are a bit limited by the geography of the existing regions, but they could certainly put something between mountain town and Pleasant Valley. Or maybe east of Pleasant Valley. It wouldn’t even have to be a beginners level, an intermediate region would be quite nice. Something with more discovery and less challenge perhaps.
  2. I’ve been playing for about a year. My current run is 290 days. I have visited every region so far. So I’m not a newbie.
  3. I was happy to find a new region in the latest update, but I think this region is terrible. I choose to play on Pilgrim, in order to have a mellow survival experience. But the new region will kill you in minutes if you're not careful, regardless of what level you're playing. The mechanics are annoying and hard to figure out, and before long, whatever you're wearing on your feet is ruined, and you're gasping for breath. In addition, since the only way you can breathe in dangerous areas is using a respirator and consumable cartridges, once you run out, you might as well just leave the region. What's the point of creating a region just for one little story, which, frankly, in Signal Void wasn't very interesting? Most of Signal Void was fetch quests, and really felt like filler; I don't even know where to start the quest in the new region, but I can't imagine it's more interesting. I would love to see one or two new regions to spend time in; the zone of contamination is not that. BTW, I know it's just a game, but I think it's unlikely to have both a strip mine on the surface and an underground mine in the same location in the real world.
  4. Oh well, I've got another two weeks of my current run. Maybe I'll visit new regions. I've only been playing for two months, so I haven't gone far, but I'm over 100 hours in pilgrim.
  5. I’m finding that when they attack, I need to put down the person I’m carrying, and I often can’t do that. And I can’t carry a torch and a survivor.
  6. I’m in Wintermute, episode 3, and, after taking Gwen back to the community center, I started going to bring back the other survivors. I hey attacked by wolves, fight them off, and almost immediately get attacked again, over and over. I’ve used all my ammo and flares, and have nothing left. I don’t see how I can continue.
  7. I went to the southeast tower first, and didn't meet the bear there. I guess you only see it twice.
  8. I’ve managed to get the spear a couple of times, but I’ve lost the fight and died. I tried using the stim in the backpack but that made everything fuzzy and I don’t think it helped.
  9. Good tip. Otherwise, do you lose everything?
  10. Wow, this is cruel... I don't like having to use walkthroughs, but I see no choice. I think the worst thing is that after I die, I restart and the bear is right on me and ready to attack. If I go back a save, I'm miles away. Cruel.
  11. Well, not that old, I’m 63. I’ve never owned a game console, but I realized that I’ve been missing out on one of the important elements of our culture in not knowing about gaming. I read a mention of TLD in The Guardian (I’m in the UK) and tried it out on Steam on my Mac. Mac gaming sucks, so I decide to buy an Xbox. I’m not into FPS and violent games, and I suck at driving, but the slow intensity of TLD really suits me. I’m enjoying the immersion, even though I’m not used to the standard game mechanics that are second nature for most players. I managed to live for 9 days in survival mode, then I saw the info about the coming update which won’t carry over saves, so I’ve started playing Wintermute. The story is interesting enough, but I think I like the open endedness of survival mode, and will return to that after the update.
