I'm not sure how experienced you are, so forgive me if I'm going way too basic here. But if any of your needs (other than sleep) were low/empty, then you're losing condition while you sleep, and might not wake up. Cold is usually the killer, but i the temp was above freezing when you went to bed, it should stay there, in that location. You don't need a ton o clothing to get the hanger above freezing, but you do need some.
Finally, as mentioned, some afflictions will get you, such as unmediated food poisoning, or bleeding. Food poisoning can be especially tricky, as one of the treatments is sleep, but you HAVE to get medicine first!

If you're certain that it was none of those, then I'd file a bug, with as much detail as you can get.

The character wasn't at the freezing point. There was only the risk of inability to sleep. The character was exhausted. When I got to the hangar, the first thing I did was sleep. I just got on the helicopter. And I fell asleep. The screen remained dark for about 20 30 seconds. At that time, it didn't occur to me to alt+tab the game and grab the game. After waiting a little longer, a death note such as "you fell into an eternal sleep" appeared. And the game is over.
Here is the theory that comes to my mind right now. sleeping bag was bear skin. Maybe that's why the character is dead.

  2. This was the first error in the new update. There's no forge. There is no forge in the basement in the hangar section of the airport map. They stole it. However, the furnace works. Most likely the model file was deleted during the update. I verified the game again. I opened a survival section for the second time. The furnace is not visible. Kind regards.

There was only bearskin sleeping bag in the inventory. I wonder if I went to bears hell because of him? It had 40% durability. But the game is over.

  4. The location is the abandoned airport. The ground is the main hangar. The percentage of finishing the game is 88%. I entered the hangar tired. He had insomnia. The northern lights were active. I immediately entered the helicopter inside the hangar. I started to sleep in it. It's been a dark screen for a long time. The game was not responding. Then a message appeared saying that you have plunged into the darkness into infinity and the game is over. As a joke, I couldn't complete the game again. I wanted to complete the faithful map achievement. But again it didn't. Is there a bug in the game? I don't know if he couldn't get out of bed because he had insomnia.

  5. @Razum My friend said: Thank you for your opinion. I respect your valuable comments. As a technician and engineer as well as a highly successful software engineer, I have a lot of knowledge in general. And based on my knowledge, I say that you give a puzzle to a child. A sufficiently mature child can easily do that puzzle. If you give the diagram to a fully mature person, if you also give the material, he will do the example in the diagram as if doing a puzzle. So the idea I gave is a completely doable tool. My dear beautiful sister, based on what you have just read and written, I am convinced that you are a naive person. That's why you should respect any information given. And you have to think about it, using your non-existent brain. After that you have to reply. My advice to you. You have to go out and travel and learn about life. It is not right to criticize by sitting at home at the computer. Go out, learn. Live life. Hunt deer. go fishing in the river.

My comment is: Thank you for your comments. However, the game turns into a walking simulation after a while. And the constant breathing of the character gets boring after a while. Being a vehicle makes the game more fun and makes walking a little easier, which is annoying. Oh, that doesn't mean that we should visit the whole map with a vehicle or a different object. After all, I don't think it will affect the classic difficulty and survival difficulty of the game and the spirit of the game too much, since there will be no vehicle passage on the roads going towards the mountain. I noticed that you are stuck on the train tracks a lot. However, I think this will add a different difficulty to the game as it will further customize the game and extend the game time. In general, I think it would be possible for the vehicle to come in the game, considering the whole player base. Kind regards.

  6. Hello friends. I know you're having a hard time. be persistent. Game design is hard work. I know that. How many people did I even cut out of my life while I was in this game design business? I wish you continued success.
Now let's get back to our topic.
    Some desired features:

1st hand wagon. (The primitive iron rusty tool that we pump on the rails by pumping with our hands.)
    2. Steam old type train (if there are rails, there is coal, why not go by train?)
(3rd idea is my friend's opinion)
    3. a small machine. description: this vehicle is a tracked steam engine weighing between 80 and 100 kg. we will advance our vehicle with the steam engine and stove boiler that we found this machine ourselves. First we'll have to find the schematic. so this tool was built on an idea. this vehicle will drive on level ground. can climb hills. There should be a small box on it. Thus, we will be able to put the items in the excess inventory on us. We will pour clean water into the stove cauldron ourselves. When we burn the stove boiler, after the water boils, the excess steam will be mixed into the air from the discharge pipe. When we press the accelerator pedal, the discharge pipe cover will be closed. it will also power the steam engine. it will direct the steam there. so the steam engine will run. this will power the tracks from the gears as in normal vehicles. May be on wheels instead of pallets.

    Kind regards.

  7. On the bozkurt mountain map, when there were northern lights, the lantern in my hand did not illuminate the inside of the cave when I entered the mountain. This error went away on its own after a few days. The error screenshot of the game and the entrance of the cave are attached.

  8. Hello friends! I play the long dark game almost every evening. While working at work, a few new features came to my mind. I wanted to share with you. I hope you will like it.

    1. Crossbow or bow arrow.
A new feature similar to the classic bow shooting bow. It can be to neutralize bears, gray wolves, serious large targets.

    2. Let the character pee and poop.
It can be thought of as a new game mode. Like the realistic game mode. Ugh! It smelled bad!

"I need to go to the bathroom now."
"Now I can pee over there!"
    "I'm about to explode!"

    3. New enemies! Hawk, eagle or a predatory bird of prey!
I think it's a feature that can completely change the dynamic of the game! The feeling of the enemy coming from the heavens! This can make the game a little harder. Say what?

I hate to completely dunk on your suggestions because you're new here... But most of these things really fit for the TLD.

    * The feature of taming wolves

Even in real life wolves can't really be 'tamed' like they are normal dogs, and I imagine the 'best thing' that could be done with wolves is they could grow more trusting of humans. And the wolves in TLD are made even more aggressive because the aurora is affecting them somehow.

Ability to drive a vehicle on the road or train track

This wouldn't work for several reasons. First cars don't work without electricity, even if the aurora is on and the power turns back on somewhat it can barely power up a lightbulb, and cars require a lot more power than a lightbulb.

Second is that cars can't drive on snow at all really, even region with roads like Coastal Highways have too much snow on them for cars. Even if there was vehicles added that were specifically designed for snowy terrain such as snowmobiles, they wouldn't fair well on the more mountainy regions like Ash Canyon, or Hushed River Valley.

Thirdly is that the cars present in the game are static objects that are essentially apart of the games map, much like the buildings and trees really. They were made that way because they were never intended to be moveable or drivable. If they were made drivable than the maps would need to be overhauled to remove the 'static' cars are replace them with new movable ones.

    * Multiplayer or co-op

Multiplayer can't work with how time speeds up when preforming many actions. If there was some sort of multiplayers at all it would need to be indirect. One thing I suggested a while back was something akin to Subnauticas Time Capsule mechanic. If you want my full explanation on how I would like it to work than check this thread here: https://hinterlandforums.com/forums/topic/41105-multiplayer-probably-wouldn’t-work-but-i-think-it’s-a-cool-idea/#comment-240346 My replay is down a bit on the first page.

    * Zip-line or parachute down the mountain

Parachute I feel wouldn't be totally out of the question but a lot of the maps aren't designed to be based jumped from. I can maybe see a revamped intro sequence for survival mode where you parachute in the starting region and choose where to land and you can find your crashed plane somewhere in that region.

As for Zip-lines I agree that they could be added, but they would need to be constructed yourself and maintained. If you try taking a zipline while it's in poor condition or during poor weather than your risk having the line snapped and falling which would cause serious injuries like broken bones, or even concussions.

     * Trying to survive with the heat in volcanic places

I wouldn't mind seeing an overheating mechanic if you 'feels like it's 97c' all the time, but a volcano? Where would that be?

That's all, I didn't imagine I would write this much on my first time back in these forums after a lengthy hiatus.

Thank you for your comments. I will definitely try the mods in the game. I answered all of your suggestions that you wrote to me in @Razum.

    Welcome to Hinterland Forums, @mb77!

Unfortunately, most of those features have been proposed a dozen times already and there's a good reason why they were never added.
I agree with everything @Razum said. The only thing that I'd add is about the volcano suggestion. I really don't see the challenge here. When you're surviving in the cold, what matters is what you have. Clothes, fuel, warm shelter. But when you're surviving the heat (especially if the heat comes from the ground, not the sun), all you can do is take off your clothes. That's pretty much why in TLD you can be perfectly fine when the temperature is +75°C. There's no gameplay utility in forcing the player to go through the chore of taking all their clothes off. It's not a challenge.
But I would LOVE to see zip-lines added as a feature of a new mountain-y region. (Hinterland, if you're still brainstorming ideas for future DLCs, write that down).

Sorry, if I came off as overly critical, mostly TLD community is pretty wholesome. But when you post something into wishlist, there's a chance your idea will be criticized into oblivion. There's also a chance that people will love it, though.

Thank you for your comment. I joined this forum because I love the game. Of course, I am always open to criticism and suggestions. I answered the lavas issue @Razum.

    Hi, welcome to the forum.

I'm just gonna say what I have to say to this.

Getting all these features in one update is ridiculous. I don't wanna front you, but you could have considered a better wording.
I like the idea of the zip-line. That could complement the rope climbing system. But I wanna critique every point of you suggestions:

    • Taming Wolves: This feature wouldn't be realistic I think. Wolves are wild animals and aren't really tamable IRL. It would also go against the spirit of the game in my opinion, which is the loneliness and everything against you. As an aid, there's a fox companion mod.
    • Driving vehicles: This wouldn't make sense in in game logic very much, since all electronics are dead. If you don't take that: Try to start a car that's been standing around for weeks in ice cold. It would also destroy atmosphere, when you can skip dangerous paths. The walking simulator critique is understandable but for me part of the game. As an aid, theres a car mod.
    • Multiplayer: Main consraint: Skipping time wouldn't work. Just look here:
    • But there is a multiplayer mod.
    • Zip-Line: Like the idea, right as you described it. I don't like the current climbing system anyways.
    • Parachute: Don't like the idea very much, don't see it working.
      • Fly around in the world with developer console mod and you'll see that the maps aren't made for view from above aka any place you can't walk. A feature where you could potentially be at any point in the air would cause tremendous follow up work on the maps.
      • If you would implement it realistically, it would be so bad, that nobody would really use it. What I mean is:
        • You can't take much stuff with you, pretty much only yourself
        • It would only be worth on high mountains like timberwolf mountain
        • You could find a parachute in the world, crafting is pretty much impossible, since you need special fabric. But who would use a parachute in that environment, so why should it be there anywhere?
        • It's freezing cold, you would very likely just freeze in the air.
        • It's damn dangerous, assuming you (as a ingame character) didn't do it before and have no idea of how to steer it, you would just break your everything on the first try.
        • I maybe could go on, but it's enough
    • Volcanos: Yeah, don't see that working either. I like the idea of volcanos, with the art style such a place could look amazing! But I don't see heat as a gameplay thing there. The game is about cold, not heat. You don't take damage when forging for hours fully clothed. This mechanic in a plausible way would be a niche thing but some work, because you need to change some fundamental things of the game. Could be possible, but I don't see it. You can't just turn around a concept, theres often too much follow up work to do.

Sorry, if I frightened you. I love when peoples bring new ideas and despite my criticism I loved reading your proposals.

Thank you for your comments. In real life you are already alone. You cannot go against mother nature. Nature is always superior to us. We already know that wolves are not domesticated. When the northern lights come in the game, the electricity comes on and the animals get weird. It is in this strange time that wolves can be tamed. And I don't think it will go against the nature of the game. How Does? I'll explain the domestication scene right away. There is a very ferocious alpha wolf in the cage. He is wounded and hungry. There is already a shortage of food due to the nature of the game. And to tame it, you must first feed it. To gain your trust. You find dog food. And you fill the stomach of the animal. Then when the northern lights come, the cage opens. Ta-da! In the meantime, you can heal the worm with antiseptic water and a bandage. :D Here's the domestication scene. I think it's not bad at all.

As for the vehicle thing. If I said a vehicle, of course it is not a car. 2 wheels maybe even 3. It could even be a roller sled. I'm talking about something that can only go on flat ground on asphalt. Something that can even go on a train track. Maybe even repairing train tracks. This is just an idea.

You said that there is a problem with time skip in multiplayer mode. The solution to this is quite simple. Players participating in the game offer voting for the time skip. Time is skipped by majority vote.

I thought of the parachute system as a simple system for landing only. I thought the character could go down slowly where one could go down with a rope instead of floating from the sky. Since the air is extremely cold, if the parachute system does not work, it can go down slowly thanks to a system such as a hot air balloon. Of course this is my own opinion. It might be a little silly. It should also land in a windless time. No one wants to go down in strong winds. If the main character in the game can fly an airplane, he must also know how to jump with a parachute. Although the character does not know this, he can learn it from the instructions on the parachute.

Since the hot lava coming out of the volcanic mountains is about 700 to 1200 degrees, we may have to deal with the heat. We're talking about lava flowing like a river, which is 6 meters high, maybe more than 1100 degrees. It can completely affect the survival part of the game.

I joined this forum because I love the game. I am always open to criticism and suggestions. I wish you a nice weekend and good games!

    Welcome to the forum. 🙂

Taming wolves has been a debate on here for quite a while. While I like the idea of a companion I can't see it happening.   Plus now modding is readily available the fox companion has become quite popular.

Have you thought of using mods? I know they're not available to everyone but it's worth a look.

That zip line might be a fun addition too🙂

Thank you for your comment. I will try the game with different modes. 👍

  13. Hi everybody! I would love to bring these features to the game in the next update.

    Here are those amazing features:

    * The feature of taming wolves
I definitely highly recommend it. The dynamic of the game will increase even more.

    * Ability to drive a vehicle on the road or train track
At least we can take a breather from long tiring journeys.

    * Multiplayer or co-op
I am sure it will be an amazing experience. Everyone already agrees on this.

    * Zip-line or parachute down the mountain
Good idea on the string, but it hurts our hands.

    * Trying to survive with the heat in volcanic places
We always struggled in the cold. What if it's the other way around?

That's all I want it to come. We look forward to the upcoming updates!

    Best regards Hinterland studio!
