Curator's rifle is a direct upgrade and has roughly double the range of the base rifle.

Barb's rifle has (iirc) 25 more shots and the more precise sights

I got this info from the wiki and their testing. But admittedly that's a bit cheaty, and your point remains true. I like the idea of the trader being available for precise analysis, and do definitely love the variants overall.

Ah the wiki, forgot about it.

    Anyway thanks for the info!

  2. Well sometimes you can't really understand the pros and cons of a variants.

For example Barb's rifle is more durable yet heavier, but the description says it's also reliable and that is already causing confusion whether they mean it by durability or there's another positive stat.

Or the Curator's rifle, the one with pros and cons completely a mystery.

But i do feel like the trader would be the one to give you informations on X variant for a price. Nonetheless, i like the item variants.

yeah across the board, saw this on steam forum (no idea what it means though!) : It's an unspoken law that every unity game in existence has to ship a broken or windows defender quarantined GameAssembly.dll once in it's lifetime. I guess it was time for TLD.

What it means is either HL has done something wrong or window defender is going wild and detecting this DLC as a virus.

if it was meant like that, okay i can agree. But on the last page was a map with Forsaken Airfield drawn north of DP, which will clearly not be the case according to Dev Diary.

Well that was my bad, i meant forsaken airfield would be above BLM/AC. But you guys may be right about BRR.

I went to investigate further about the planes and i think i found a way to prove BRR could be the region.

What i think is PV's plane wasn't trying to land in GBI, that plane was more an escape toward the mainland.

While TWM's plane (which is the plane with cargo containers) was actually send by the mainland to supply what's left of GBI and was trying to land in Forsaken Airfield.

Of course, both planes crashed due to aurora.

Honestly, now im lost. I dunno if CH is the chosen one or BRR.

  5. Well we have 3 big clues on where Forsaken Airfield could potentially be.

2 are in the game itself, the plane crashes of PV and TWM.

Coincidentally, both planes noses (or how it is called the part where pilots are) are pointing toward Coastal Highway area (even tho TWM's plane lost it's nose, it's still pointing toward CH).

Last one is the ''Remote Railway Lines'' teaser picture, this is one is more personal but it kinda feels like the picture fits in that tunnel at the end of the railway of CH.

(sorry for the quality of the picture)

So yeah, my guess is Coastal Highway.

I think seasons are off the table for TLD 1, even with DLCs...

HL could just add an temperature increase / decrease system,  wildlife becoming more abundant / scarcer, weather becoming more favorable  / harsher and increasing the duration of day / night.

And that would be it for seasons. Yeah, it would take a long time to add all of this into the game, but it's still better than remaking the whole Great Bear just to melt all the snow and ice (which would create alot of technical problems for some people).

  7. Smoke grenades perhaps? Only if the Forsaken Airfield has some military stuff.

Something that allow you to make a desperate escape from timberwolves or give you an advantage in hunting mooses and bears by confusing and reducing visibility.

Might not be very efficient if there's alot of wind.

  8. Well i personally would save the diary of my currrent run and once HL releases the DLC, that i will buy instantly, start a new run. Doesn't matter if saves are compatible or not.

I have to admit, starting a new run is just pure fun. Barely any gear on you, struggling as hell to survive, till you (hopefully) arrive to the long-quite boring-term.

Improvised Crampons:  This is another one that (much like improvised head/hand wraps) I don't think I would ever find a reason to want to make.  I much preferred that the crampons were something we had to find.  I only ever used them for ropes and thin ice (since I've never had much of a problem with sprains... I think they are easy enough to avoid, and when I did take risky paths and got them... I always felt they were justified).  I never really used them specifically for "ancle support" I just never found that to be necessary.  Again, I suppose, for those who would want that option... I'm glad they'll have it, but it's probably a feature that I would not make use of.

I don't think HL would add improvised crampons just for fun.

I mean, just by reading improvised it's kinda like they're saying the crampsons you can find will be removed in more difficult modes (interloper for example) and so you have to craft the in order to use it's benefits.

Now ofc i can be wrong, but this is probably the most logical reason why HL plan on adding improvised crampons.
