  1. here's a new one. tried some more fishing and caught once fish in 6 hours  which stinks.

then had to hustle back to my snow shelter with a wolf on me. Had my bow out in the shelter.

he charges like they all do and i decide to take a shot. arrow splinters and the wolf attacks me. Down to 35% condition.

this run was going great until i started playing it again.

  2. Got that moose with 3 arrows and then promptly got attacked on the way back to the mountaineer;s hut.

Condition isn't as dire as on the dead man settings obviously but not great.

so healed up and cooked a bit. had to rush out in the cold to chop up wood but not doing bad.

then i got the cabin fever warning.

  3. i'd like to get past my longest loper run of 280 days.

I had a decent run going before i began the deadman, gear tea fun so i am skipping ahead about 50 days.

    anyway short recap:

Muskeg start - on the mystery lake where i go the hammer - back to FM and crafted a ton of arrowheads, hatchet and knife.

on the the dam, then pleasant valley where i picked up a second pair of underwear....!

summited TWM then on to Ash Canyon where i somehow didn't freeze to death climbing up to get the tactical backpack. i also used my flare gun to kill the really tough bear near the miners camp.

stayed in the hut by the ledge a little while which is where i started the custom run.

ended that run and got into this one again.

totally forgot where i had slept. Turns out it was a cave north of the hut on the ledge. no surprise there. i love caves like batman.

made it back to TWM and found that i already killed a bear and got his skin. Yay!

stayed at the mountainer's hut a few days till second bear skin cured and tried to fish. not too much luck but i was able to get enough so that i didn't starve completed the bear coat.

all set to head down the mountain, then left through PV on to Coastal but then i see this guy. too good to pass up.

his meat couldn't come soon enough but i really don't want to sit around and wait for his hide to cure to make up the moose hide satchel.

but then i got wolfed coming back to the hut with four moose steaks, his hide and near hypothermia.

still it was too good to pass up.

  4. ok, retiring the run now. I got my health back up to about 90% with that stim and about 12 birch teas. very hard at first but as i suspected, once you get the sweet gear your only threat are wolves and falling off a cliff (which i have done, mind you)

anyway, i picture this guy heading back to mystery lake and enjoying some pricing fishing until the world begins warming up. or until a wolf chops his throat.

    the end.

  5. wish i could say heading out of the canyon was uneventful but i got attacked once again coming down from the angler's den to the fishing hut. I fired a warning shot well ahead of time and everything. i did pick up enough birch to make 7 teas though. There were some really weird big ones too, but i guess they still only count as one.

condition back down now to about 45%

  6. got handgun 4, which is nice and i will need it. i was hoping to pick up a marine flare for my climb up but no dice. Slept a night in one of the caves near the hut. trying to stave off cabin fever. I also forgot to bring a lantern which sucks bc going up through the one cave near all the wolves is murder without one.

  7. dammit. i was gonna take advantage of good weather and head to the canyon but my fatigue was a little high and i would need to make it all the way passed the fishing spot to the little cabin.

was going to spend the night in the cave in the ravine area of TWM before heading over. some how this jerk found me and now i am right back to 60% condition.

  8. that is a very good question. I did a little experiment at the TWM hut. i had a stone storage thing created and cooked up some deer meat. at great personal hunger risk. i left one 100% condition steak in the stone storage and another laying on the icy ground.

after about a week, the storage meat was at 86% and the one stored in the snow was at...86%.

anecdotal evidence for sure but it would appear that when the weather is cold enough, the meat is cooked (at least at cooking 4) then it makes no difference.

ugh, and i have been building these storage things on every run too.

  9. so i caved and made the summit. it's after day 60 and the world is damn cold. I just didn't want to summit right off the bat and get all the prime gear.

and i thought about the 10 or so tries i've made at this run that ended horribly and how after that last wolf attack it took a stim and about 10 birch teas and i am still only at 75% condition.

so i got the decent gear and headed back down the mountain to the lake hut.

    it's a welcome sight.

  10. ok, day 42 - went back to camp office to get my revolver. There's probably one i left somewhere in pleasant valley but i can't remember (spray paint useful???)

in any case, the plan is formed. gonna do a little mountain climbing. no summitting, i'll save that for late game but there's no rules against picking up stuff from the plane boxes off the summit.

but what i really need is the tactical backpack. And that is up in the nether reaches of Ass Canyon.

gonna stay a night or two in the cave above mystery lake and then make the long trek through PV to TWM.

and now after day 40 the world is getting cold as a MF.
