  1. Currently the noisemakers aren't really used in survival, even though they could be useful early game especially on interloper. There's no reason you should need to use the ammunition workbench to craft gunpowder and noisemakers, as both could realistically be done with just the regular workbench. It's quite a shame because i think the noisemakers are really cool but you just don't really get to use them in survival because they are so hard to craft.

  2. Survival spoilers ahead.

For those not aware, Vaugn's Rifle always spawns in either the Carter Dam or the Winding River area. This is rather OP, as it means you have a guaranteed spawn location for what is generally considered the best of the three special rifle variants in a small area that is rather low-risk to loot. I propose adding more possible spawn locations for Vaughn's Rifle so that it could also spawn spawn in Keeper's Pass or somewhere else in Mystery Lake, such as the cabins by the lake or in the fishing huts or at the clearcut area or at one of the fire lookouts, so that the spawning of Vaughn's Rifle would be more inline with the other two rifle variants that have many possible spawn points spread across the regions they can be found in.

Also maybe the spawn rate of the revolver could be lowered and the regular hunting rifle's spawn rate increased? I'm yet to find a single non-special variant hunting rifle this year even though i've found atleast 5 revolvers, or maybe its just bad luck lol.

    3. Add Blackrock clothing/gear. The guards/prisoners would have had all kinds of stuff working at the prison. How about a few more clothing options. A handgun variant. Pepper spray. Flashbangs. Riot helmet. Stomping boots. Smoke grenade blueprint. Improvised knife variant. Etc.

Well you got your handgun now!

Pretty sure maximum of five updates is on the table, not six. There's not enough of time to make that many, not with their speed and delays and console issues. So after this update 2, three more. One probably mid-summer before their holidays, one in fall, final before Christmas break. Map 2 in update 3 and map 3 in update 5. Yes I agree cougar with final update also.

They will probably just end up releasing part 6 in early 2024 then. I doubt that hinterland would break their promise of 6 updates.

  5. Hi, today i added a bunch of mods to tld, the game runs great but there seems to be much more loose loot then there should be.

Im using my own custom difficulty, 8lmY-mi4O-GzoD-TQR2-9+IF

This difficulty should have  interloper levels of loose and container loot with the stalker loot table, but i feel like im finding way more loot then i should be.

On my first run, i found a bedroll, cooking book and box of revolver ammo at the poachers camp in forlorn muskeg.

Second run on timberwolf mountain i found a hatchet in the fishing hut, which is nothing unusual, but then i found  a knife, hacksaw, ski jacket, and more in the mountaineers hut.

The level of container loot was fine, loose loot is the issue.

I am playing the newest steam version of tld on windows 10.

My FULL list of mods is:

    -Alcohol mod for modcomponent

    -Alternative action utilities

    -Animal behaviour

    -Ankle support

    -Bandage overhaul

    -Better fuel management

    -Better mending XP

    -Candlelight

-Choose starting gear (turned off in mod settings)

    -Crafting revisions

    -Disable chromatic aberration

    -DIY by santana

    -Fire pack

    -Foods by santana

    -Food tweaker

    -Free look in cars

    -Gear spawner

    -Hunger revamped

    -Improved soundtrack

    -Keyboard utilities

    -Localization utilities

    -Mod component

    -Mod settings

    -Movable containers

    -Northfolk clothing pack

    -Placing anywhere

    -Radial menu utilities

    -Relentless night

    -Sun orientation fixes

    -Wooden statuettes

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Please elaborate. Considering minecraft has ray tracing😅 TLD would benefit greatly from it in my opinion! More realistic daytime lighting in the cabins or during auroras would be incredible!

RTX cards are more accessible these days with a little bit of(astronomical) premium. I have one incoming next week ultra hyped! Besides, rays don't have to be mandatory; they can be optional.

Here's a little quickie(40 minutes) about RT implementation in metro exodus. You don't need reflective surfaces to enjoy RT, @Skelegutplays.  Good watch. It goes over parts of the lighting that TLD has a lot of problem with(windows vs the rest of the room).

I posted that 3 years ago lol. I have since changes my stance on ray-tracing in tld, and even have a rtx card of my own.

I didn't watch the video yet but i do think that ray tracing would actually be a good addition, and i now know more about it then i did in 2019.

he doesn't mention it at all. Instead he meets a random person and immediately decides he needs to meet her boss.

Didnt Jace say that Atwood was her boss? In episode 2 Jeremiah asked for will to deliver the message "wintermute" to someone named Atwood so thats why Will asks for Atwood from Jace.

  8. I have been playing a fair bit of project zomboid recently, and it has a feature where pressing M will mute/unmute the music so you can listen better.

Now i have been using the hotkey in PZ quite a lot and it is very useful when im trying to listen for zombies or other sounds.

For example i was playing survival earlier this week, and i was looting one of the cars on the highway in coastal highway and the car was also next to a bunch of rocks so my visibility was limited.

I listened a bit and heard what veeeery slightly sounded like wolf paws on ice and i had to go to settings and disable music quickly. I think it would be good if it were made more convenient with a hotkey.

  9. During an aurora, it could be possible to use something like the charged battery from the flashlight or one of the car batteries to create a spark with a spark plug from a car.  There is no reason a spark plug couldnt work during an aurora considering the car lights, radio and laptops work to an extent.

Obviously the spark from the spark plug alond wouldn't be enough to light the tinder, but it could be used to light gunpowder or accelerant.

You are right that they are usually cotton based.

In general, I try to limit my suggestions on the forum to using items already in the game so that devs already have the assets.

Perhaps Cattail plant heads could be used in conjuction with rabbit skins? They should be fibrous on the inside.

Cloth is common enough. I see no use for other types of bandages.

Hopefully it doesn't use the stupid steam workshop. I hate that crap.

Why though? It works great with other games like project zomboid, csgo, and many others. I would rather just click a button to download it and enable it in an in-game menu then have to download it from nexusmods and figure out what folder to put everything in.

From what I know, generally rifles that use clips use a long eye relief scope or a side mounted scope so that it doesn't get in the way.

You can load individual cartridges when you have a scope.

Ray tracing has a massive performance hit and from what I recall TLD devs are struggling with performance already. Also until ray tracing becomes standardised and supported across the industry it's likely going to stay a pretty worthless nvidia feature just like physX and everything else proprietary they make. I am not against ray tracing or anything, I like the idea. It's just that is reality as I see it.

Pc runs fine, the gtx 1070 runs tld in 4k ultra, the next gen consoles are rumoured to have rtx 2080 levels of performamce so it shouldnt be that hard to run even with ray tracing if hinterland does a good job with optimization.

  14. With the PS5 and xbox series S/X coming this year, nvidia announcing its next gen of gpus and amd announcing theirs on the 28th of october, ray tracing will be something more common to have support for, TLD could really benefit from ray traced lighting similiar to minecraft where ray traced lighting looks far different. Ray tracing would also also finally absolve the debate about the lighting being unrealistic at times. Unity also supports ray tracing so it shouldnt be too much work.

heres a few comparison images i found of ray tracing on vs off

Oh one thing I want to mention, they might not add alcohol simply because of the rating. It's fine to run around slaughtering stuff and have dead people all over and everything.....but alcohol? oh no, that's too much for children.

Many other games have alchohol, starew valley is 7+ for example and you can drink in it.
