  1. Thanks for the update. What you are doing is the right move, as nobody wants subpar quality and a team burned out, for this game we all love.

And thanks for the 60FPS update, as someone who has been dying to get that fix, it's nice to get an update and off course it makes sense to release with the tales ep3 👍

  2. Those numbers are insane, congrats! Looking forward to playing the expansion, but sorry to keep beating the same old drum, but what about upgrades for next-gen consoles, it was mentioned in an earlier update that info would land "soon"? It's really holding me and others back from playing EP4 and not going to play the expansion, before we get 60fps support on PS5, sorry but the 30FPS boat has sailed for lots of us.

  3. Thanks for the update. I like you approach, and find it fair.

BUT I am quite disappointed there is no mention at all, on how you are going to handle nextgen consoles? You have promised earlier an update on this and it's a bit overdue now.

I will support you, but my primary machine is a PS5 and I'm not gonna play TLD and the updates, if the game is not running in 60FPS on PS5. Please address this problem, I would also believe this is for your own benefit, as PS5/Xbox Series players will expect a native game or at least a game that runs 60 FPS.

As for next gen update - strange, the long dark has some indy style light graphics, so imo there is no need to waste time to upgrade from 1080p to 4k.

The only graphcal thing needs to be upgraded IS HANDS! Its so annoying to see default palms and cuffs all the time!
Please upgrade our hands and cuffs to correspond weared stuff!

I agree resolution is not that important, but it can add clarity and less jagged edges when upping resolution. But the big thing for me is framerate. I just can't play games in 30FPS any more, as I'm playing on PS5 and PC, where I play in 60, 120 or 144FPS. Now The Long Dark off course doesn't really need 120FPS support, but 60FPS support is highly wanted and personally I'm waiting to play EP4, until 60FPS supports lands. I'm gonna wait patiently for it off course, even though the waiting is killing me a bit 😅

Personally I wouldn't mind paying for a next-gen version. They could update the current backwards compability versions to run 60fps on next-gen consoles, which would be the free option. And release an "enhanced edition" or something similar named with better textures, better lighting, 60FPS support, native support for the nextgen consoles, separate trophy/achivement list (with support for importing old saves maybe), ready for the mod support and similar features. Have an upgrade path for current owners that cost eg. 10-15$ and sell the enhanced edition for new owners for 35-40$.

  5. Glad you are commenting on the next-gen update, as some of us are waiting to play episode 4, until that update has landed. I was hoping for something more concrete in this update, but hopefully the next update regarding paid update path for Survival Mode and next-gen, is not to far into 2022.

    Thanks.

Is seems unlikely that a game without anti-aliasing would have DLSS or FSR. TLD is a low-spec game, meant to be played on a wide variety of hardware specs.

Sure, but eg. FSR can also be used on slower consoles like PS4, Xbox One and Switch, so adding FSR to the game, could actually benefit all the way around. Also FSR doesn't require an anti-aliasing solution.

  7. Thanks for the update, lots of great information, looking forward to episode 4.

Also glad you mention a possible enhanced version in the survey for consoles. I know stuff like an enhanced version takes time, so maybe until you have the time, you can do the simple version where you cap framerate to 60fps for the next-gen consoles instead of 30. They should have plenty of horsepower to run the game in dynamic 1440p with 60FPS and it will add tons of enjoyment for people on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and also a group of new potential customers :)

    Thanks.

  8. Well that is disappointing, but it is a rough situation, hopefully the situation improves a lot in North America soon.

That also means EP4 will release after PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X has been released. Has there been any information on how Hinterland is going to handle next gen consoles? I'm guessing they will play fine via the built-in backcompability mode, but any chances we are going to see versions optimised for next gen consoles? Off course getting EP4 and properly the switch port out, is more important, but down the line, it would rock with optimized versions for next gen :)

  9. Nobody ( or nobody should :) ) is after the team for not doing amazing work, as they have clearly done lots of work on the steadfast ranger update. Buuuuut we are nearing the end of the current console generation, you have to remember some of your users do not play The Long Dark on PC, but on consoles. With next generation of consoles approaching fast, that will move focus from current gen games to next gen games. As I mentioned in my post, luckily we have backward compatibility, but still next gen games will have a lot more focus and attention. Also when moving from current gen to next gen, their will be an performance and quality improvement going to next gen, it can sometimes be hard to go back to "older" games because of these things.

I know your stance on not giving a date, but to be frank it's getting a bit hard to recommend your game to friends, when you have no idea when the next episode is out, and history has shown it's impossible to predict it. I tried, but when people hear the story is not even half done and with no idea when the next episode lands, it turns people away from it. I'm not saying give an exact date, but maybe just a year :)

That's my take on it, whatever you do or don't do, keep up the good work and thanks for replying.
