  1. I made several birch bark teas, and I turned 4 rabbits into steaks. By the early afternoon next day, I am ready to leave the cave at around 75% condition, I should be able to survive with this amount all the way down to Mystery lake area.

Im in desperate need of a bow and some arrows, as a preferred weapon of mine.

  2. I need a hobby. All I do is sit on the forums, even though there is nothing to do for most of the day, since most people are from Canada and US.

Probably will go make a bow soon.

  3. I rely on you, friends :D If I am going to act like an ass on the forums, please be sure to correct me ASAP. I will be most grateful for that.

That said, I will try my best to be the warm and cuddly bear I usually am :)

      Ghosty 1944

In the Canadian wilderness there is no such thing as a cuddly bear... Jk I feel you man we all get ahead of our selves some times.

  4. I think I might take a couple of days off from the forums, not yet sure if I actually will, or if I will come by here and there, just not feeling great today. Im not as bad as I was health-wise anymore, but I am feeling quite a bit depressed today, probably just the collection of things coming in all together.

  5. It doesnt help that I dont know how to post and explain myself briefly in English. That is why my posts are always so long. This gives people the idea of me, trying to "hide" something in there, which is not true, it is just a biased notion people get. English is my third language, Ive learned to use it by using its rich vocabulary, this makes it very difficult for me to get my point across briefly. I dont use it to converse daily in speech, I only use it on the internet daily, through reading and watching TV shows. Daily use of speech is neccesary to get into the routine of getting your point across briefly.

  6. It is the eve of the 32nd day of my Voyager experience... and I am finally ready to leave the Hushed River Valley. The bear encounter rattled me a little bit... because I know that the next part will have me, walking over the Highway bridge above Milton... which is from my experience a death trap... with that long, narrow bridge, and the bear always patrolling it.

If I want the Silent hunter achievement, I cannot shoot it with a distress pistol. Which means sneaking close to a car, shooting it then ducking into a seat. Ugh.

Decided to take a little breather, listed through the journal. Day 2... a grim reminder of how fragile life can be, even on Voyager... as I´ve fell down to 3% condition due to my own arrogance.

  7. It was a bit of a detour during my Voyager run, but I had to make a fire anyway and de-freeze some clothes I found in the outside containers... so I felt inclined to make a visit to one of the eeriest places in TLD in my opinion, and pay my respects once again to the unfortunate survivor who died ages ago on the Great Bear, and of whom now only a couple of yellowed out bones remain.

  8. Killed the bridge troll. Was a big one, too, even though in the end was only worth 35 kg of meat.

Knew that I would had to deal with him first before I could cross the bridge. So, after leaving Hushed, Ive gathered some stones on my way toward the bridge. It was time to hunt a bear...

I have decided it would be best to set up an ambush. Ive climbed the stones by the entrance of the bridge, and waited for the bear to show up. And sure enough, slowly he trudges over the bridge to exact his toll on me...

Used the stones to lure it into a position - and as I was right above him, Ive uncrouched, drew my bow, thump... right in the noggin.

Then I sat down for a 2 hour card game, waiting for a head wound to do its job...

Im my meditation, I crapped my freshly washed snow pants once again because I heard him run right by me two times, as I assumed I was safe, high up on the rocks... but no mauling took place.

After snacking on two wolf steaks, Ive decided to go search for my new rug.

On the bridge, one of the cars blessed me with the advanced guns book.

Then I saw it from the bridge. Damn.

Getting to it was not that difficult, and I was gonna loot the bottom of the lake anyway, but after processing it, of course the Aurora had to happen.

Right now, Im roasting my bear steaks over a fire, waiting for this hellish time to pass so I can continue on in peace :D

  9. Next morning I made my way to the Trappers. A wolf crossed my path, he was quickly pacified with an arrow headshot, and in turn processed into scraps.

This gave me an idea to kill the Trappers bear as well. It was not easy, it took the entire day and part of the night, but after three shots that made him bleed (yet miraculously survive) I finally killed the beast. I did not forget my task either - so as I was cooking old bear steaks (leftovers from previous bear), I made some torches and went to loot the cave for respawned coal. Measly 10 lumps. Dissapointing.

Made a short fire in the Trappers to make a drink, then rest through the night to go search for the bear.

Found it fairly soon, it was gentleman enough (after all the trouble it put me through to kill it) to die on top of the peak of a hill above its lair. 20190429012408_1.thumb.jpg.2b6247183f95c051ecd221829875f711.jpg

  10. Next morning it was windy, but not a single living thing. The music also stopped. Just dead quiet, my steps and wind blowing. I safely made it to the Office with my load of meat. I was pretty well rested still, so I used the rest of the day, looking for the runaway wolf. So I at least collected some sticks. Gonna try again tommorow. In the evening I finished my last cooking book, and read a bit of sewing primer by the moonlight, till the midnight came and I went to rest up.

Next morning I spent looking for the wolf, unsuccesfully. The weather was not very cooperative. Still, I scouted most of the general area where Id expect the wolf to die, and no luck. It could have probably ran a lot further then Id think...

During my travels, however, I have literally stumbed upon a Preppers hatch! A lot of very useful, valuable equipment was in there. Even though I dont expect to use it any time soon, I took one of the rifles found there with me, to carry it home to the Office. Took basically everything else. In the evening, I did more studying, and went to bed - determined that the arrow I left lodged in the wolf is now gone forever, till maybe I randomly stumble upon it ages later. I guess this means I will have to go forge some new ones.

Although the Muskeg in this game is very deadly, I think I will travel to the forge there next, but not anytime soon. Both of my bear skins are now cured, which means I may start working on a new piece of equipment.

I am deliberating whether to craft a bedroll, or a coat. Most likely I will go with the coat, though.

  11. No coat time just yet. Turns out that when I left for the trip, Ive used up the last of my cured guts. Im certain Trappers have some cured, but I will have to first make a trip over there... which is the goal for tommorow. Today, we are finishing up on all the relevant survival knowledge. Ive finished level 3 mending, the books helped a lot - already almost half way to getting level 4. This should help with keeping my equipment in tip-top shape without having to waste an awful lot of materials.

Ive arranged my gun related skill books neatly on the desk - while I dont need them yet, they can wait for me there.
    20190428234155_1.thumb.jpg.2eb18592411c25f99b15f8590d5871b0.jpg

Still wish Id find more. There is still some potential left in Pleasant Valley, I think, and definitedly in Forlorn Muskeg. Too bad the latter is so dangerous... yet I may chance a trip there anyway, in case I need to forge, or at least get a decent supply of Coal from a close-by spot.

Which also constitutes my side-goal for tommorow´s trip to Trappers - to visit the cave there and collect on some Coal supplies.

  12. Oh god... my delay has caused me to traverse the Muskeg during early night... and a heavy fog ensued.

To be on the safe side, I decided to approach Spence´s from the middle of the map, to avoid the bear den that I would have to walk past...

Im walking beside the tracks when I hear ravens... and a growl. It found me... this deep, dark siloulette of a bear I can barely make out, heading straight for me.

Im only armed with a bow, no elavated places around me. Fear. Ive instantly dropped both of my last pieces of meat, hopefully that will distract it... and I headed straight back, towards the den I initially avoided.

It seems to have worked because right now, I am still alive... but I can still vaguely hear the raven´s behind me...

Deep fog everywhere. Dark. A bear, stalking me. Cant fire a distress or I will lose my achievement progress. Heavily overencumbered and tired, no way I could drop enough things till the bear caught up to me...

My only hope is reaching its den first, and walking over the overhang, hopefully losing its trail, or at worst, reaching the tree trunks I know are there, where I know I will be safe.

  13. On continues my Voyager journey.

Last time, I bagged a bear with a single arrow headshot, processed it and prepped for a move back to my main base of operations at Camp Office. I loaded up on the gear I brought from the Milton park office, both bear rugs, one which was now cured and the other quite fresh, and a good chunk of bear meat, too. I knew Id look tasty to all predators but figured I could get by and shoot whatever comes my way.

Despite seeing the wolf well in advance, I lost a sight of him, and as I was prepping to deal with him, he ambushed me from behind. Took the most chunk out of me... makes me wonder if predators do more damage the smellier you are... could very well be... more "motivated" to kill you, I suppose. Either way, some swings win a hatchet and it runs off, but not before damaging ALL of my clothes by a significant bit, and taking out about 30% of my condition. Considering I had highly protective gear on and was at full strenght, this was odd.

Made it to Office without other altrications, except for spraining ALL the limbs, even the ones I did not know I had...

Next morning after, I reorganized my bookshelf collection of survival knowledge, that I have acquired so far:

On the left are books, already finished. I like to keep them anyway for nostalgia reasons. On the right are the ones I am working on right now. All in all, the early quick-run through the majority of world´s locations is paying off - I can obtain this knowledge from books mostly, without having to ruin a lot of game´s tools and wasting the fire materials on practising them.

I have yet to visit some locations in Pleasant Valley with possible book treasures, then the Coal mine, all the coast regions and the train trestle ravine connector. Meaning there is still a potential of obtaining some 20 more books out there. There could also be more books in Forlorn Muskeg or Milton region, but I am unsure if I discover those before reaching level 5 with most skills already. Might require deeper dive to find those.

I am not satisfied with my amount of rifle books yet. I would ideally like to obtain the level 5 skill without firing the rifle once. For that, I will need more advanced gun books. Luckily, I believe Coastal region, Desolation point, and maybe even the bottom of Ravine in connector might hold these valuable texts. I hope so, for more Frontier guides is not going to help me much, past level 3 they do not offer any more insights into firing a rifle.

That said, I never really use rifle, so I can wait till Ive properly looted the entirety of the world anyway.

20190423115749_1.thumb.jpg.8cd1af103ff2e51097f3fb11a453ad0b.jpgCurrent look on my stats, with more reading to do, still. Carcass harvesting will probably go over level 5 before I discover all the books that help with this skill, sadly. Same may apply for cooking and firestarting by this point, and maybe even Archery. But I made good use of books on these skills so Im satisfied.

Not finding a lot of the mending books. Id rather hope for those instead of the carcass harvesting ones, but Id even rather get the advanced gun ones instead.

Day 48. For some reason my achievement progress for silent hunter is not increasing, but it might be an issue that will only account as soon as Id die, since Im still alive, I will hope I get the achievement after crossing the 50 day treshold.

Water supplier are running low. So, that means firewood duty this evening. Wanna conserve the coal reserves for now because I have more traveling to do, and I wanna make a bigger stockpile at the forge later, too. Will use some but for now, Id prefer to stock up on sticks.

Made my way up to the rabbit grove on the peak above Office, my favorite spot to get some quick wood since the path there is quick & safe. I see rabbits hopping around. Hmm, gut supplies running a bit low. I pick up the stone, determined to bag this little bugger.

Well aimed throw and the rabbit is in my hands. At last moment, I realized that I had bagged a bear earlier, and have now 10 guts curing at the Trappers.

Off you go, little one, be free and have many babies next time I come around to claim your lives.20190423121638_1.thumb.jpg.7f06cece2039d018659583f39c857c22.jpg

  14. Random fact people probably didnt know about me.
I love singing. Pretty decent at it too - not as good as most people you would see on talent shows, at least not yet, but probably better then an average person. I hope.

Would like to one day be succesful at it too, music is one thing that I know is going to be my passion forever, but too hard to make it so. Still, practising a few days every week, slowly getting to the point where I am confident enough to sing in front of other people.

  15. Some thoughts on what I would like to improve in the future:

I will do my best to write less. I know long texts are generally obnoxious. Im not very good at this, I was taught English in a manner that claims "the more rich text, the better" - I will attempt to moderate this a bit.
Less arguments with people. I feel like it really just served to discourage topics when I got into it with other people.
More constructive criticism, less arrogant prick responses. This is a nasty routine I am still trying to drop, that I brought with me from Town of Salem forums.
More posts for fun. Again a routine from ToS forums - the forums there required people to have some quality of posts for them to be legitimate. So there was not much room for jokes. I want to change that. Hopefully people will then realize I am not always such a serious person with a stick up my butt.
Post two posts in row rather then one huge one. Again a routine from ToS, where you could not post multiple posts in a row. Have to drop that routine.
Less mood swings. I might just leave the forums for a day if I have a grumpy mood. Many times I will pity what I wrote in angrier state, and quite often I have to edit out things like swears and other nasty behaviour.

If there are any more things you would think I should improve, let me know. I would like to self-improve through this as a person, and it would help if I had an honest opinion of third parties that I could build on.

  16. Succesfully I reached the den, as the fog began to lift, I finally dared to look over my shoulder, to learn if I was about to die. The bear was nowhere to be seen. My distraction must have worked, then.

I progressed over the tree trunks, nervously looking over at the den. No bear. Muskeg bears, it must be something that makes them just so... evil. What if that spawn of hell decides to cut me off?

In the end, I could not handle the idea the the bear will be waiting for me at the Spences - so as I passed by the broken radio tower, Ive diverted into the cave to spend the rest of the night there.

In the morning, on my way to spence I was jumped by a wolf. No bait, so I missed my arrow on approach. Still, took one strong swing with the hatchet and the wolf ran off. As I reached Spence, the wolf accompanied me, and died right by the entrance. So I took its steaks, they will be a welcomed snack for when I return here to forge more arrowheads one day.

After a short pause at Spence and a quick nap, off I go by the barrel shack. Destination high blind. Stopped by the peanut butter rock - and was rewarded by peanut butter. The high blind had a very used bow, and an arrow - a welcomed change. The cave earlier had a skill book, and so did the spence... which puts my overal amount of survival knowledge very high... I will have to take it easy in the Camp office again for a while, read up on all of it. Not to mention the extra books, waiting for me in Milton park office.

All in all, life is good!

Spoke too soon. As Ive stopped by the Trappers camp, with nothing of worth then a couple of bullets, Ive made my way home, to Camp office... when a high windstorm broke out. No worries... as Ive expended the rest of my energy on a quick, short run. I will be home before long...

      There IT was.

A bear. Another bear. Another spawn of hell muskeg bear. Straight in my path. Going straight toward me.

The old drill. Immidiatedly I diverted into a path of a wolf-pack - them I would deal with rather then that spawn of hell... and dropped my new fresh baits. The distraction once again worked, and I was able to avoid that beast with a wide circle. The wolves left me alone - I think we all in secret agreed on a truce, none of us were in particular rush to get the attention of that hellish spawn.

Now, I am limping towards the Mystery lake, and sun slowly sets...

      20190421210126_1.jpg

  17. The bottom of the ravine proved to be bountiful. Sewing primer book, three carcasses and a bunch of other items, including the stuff like Go! Energy drink. Stripped the animals of their hides and meat, then made a campfire as I shredded a jacket for cloth. Slept till high noon next day.

Climb out of the ravine turned out to be uneventful. At the top I grabbed my gear and went on my way. Decided to go check out the hunter´s blind. Mid way a bear crossed my path, and I quickly ran towards the Maintenance yard. Luckily, he did not pursue me. However, I ran into a wolf, a really brutal wolf who jumped me... and nearly killed me, with forcing me to bleed. I ran towards the door of the hut, popping second flare... bleeding heavily. Inside, I stopped the bleeding. Alas, I have no peroxide bottle, nor any Old man´s beard! I searched the entire place but no luck... meanwhile the infection risk stopped at 90%. No antibiotics either... I rest up through the night after drinking a cup of herbal tea that I discovered in a microwave. I am stuck somewhere in around 30% of condition, with infection risk high and no way to treat it, in a building surrounded by wolves... now THIS is survival...

I realize that if I stay, I will most likely die. I drop the rifle - it is slowing me down too much. Still, I decide to take the rounds with me in case I need them further down the road.

I cant seem to find peroxide anywhere. My clothes are torn to bits so Im getting cold, fast. Another wolf jumps me right as I manage to fire off a shot with a revolver (no point saving bullets now!) I go down into a struggle but one hit with a hatchet and it runs off, giving me nothing more then just a bruise. Still, my condition takes a hit and that is not something I can afford!

My condition is very, very poor. I manage to leave the Broken Railroad freezing and in deathly state... wondering if I will ever be able to return here again. What started off as very fortunate run has turned very grim very fast.

    Forlorn Muskeg adventures next.

  18. Way home progressing worse then expected. When I reached Coastal, a blizzard broke out. In my confidence I started walking towards where a fishing cabin Id expect to be... but I got lost on the ice and kept walking in circles. When I finally got my bearings straight and aimed properly at the hut, the blizzard died out... but most of my clothes were getting frozen, and my condition was at half. No time to wait - reached the cabin, made a fire using up all I had left (including all my coal reserves) and drank a tea for condition recovery. Then, 6 hour sleep. My fire was about to go out, but I was dry and well recovered. 2 more hours for good measure.

Spent the rest of the day, slowly sludging from fishing cabin to cabin, looking for the fishing book. Found it in the 4th one. Short stop by Jackrabbit´s to drop off all the high condition processed food inside, and went on for more looting. Wanted to loot a car at the other end of Highway because of a chance for Frontier´s book in there. But stopped right in time... and backed away quickly... as from behind the hill of the highway out came up a big, bad bear... so I diverted around, looted the cabin above Fishing village, turned back for the car (no book), and now I am slowly sludging up the Bear´s creek, with intention to spend a night in the cabin at Rabbit grove above the campsite. Tommorow will be my route up the route, over the Trestle and through the ravine home to the Office. If all goes well, by tommorow´s evening I shall be back home in the safety of my main base.
