  1. I wouldn't mind timberwolves so much... IF there seemed to be a real point to them other than to make it harder to survive... give us a different look for the pelts, give better buffs for the pelts. These are timberwolves who are highly successful in their pursuits of prey due to working together... Their coats should have special properties...

    They should just concentrate on
    1) Finishing the DLC
    2) After that finishing EP5
    3) Then final optimizations, bug fixes and touches to the game + console ports = official finalization of TLD
    4) Only then think of the next project(s).

So... you think console players should get the shaft?

Nevermind that consoles SHOULD be simpler to make sure the game works seeing as there aren't umpteen million variations of hardware.

It blows my mind that we had that Ptarmigan bug.

But why though? We can already get infinite water when at a campfire anyway

But not salt... salt is pretty limited... yet essential for TFTFT recipes.

When I realized you could stop on ledges while climbing.

    So much wasted coffee.

To be fair ledges are a fairly new addition to the game. Lol.

I started playing the game before cooking pots were introduced. It took me a while to realize that I could start a fire and boil water without. My character died a bunch before I figured it out and then Hinterland gave us cooking pots and nixed that no pot/can option...

  5. I like your ideas but regarding the one about a thermos... I used to own a modern made one (thermos brand, old style metal) and honestly on a not especially cold morning (NOT less than 32° F), after about one and a half hours, coffee that had been piping hot when I poured it in, was only lukewarm. I don't know if the vintage Thermos' are more effective but I wasn't impressed especially when I bought it thinking my coffee would be hotter for longer.

My survivor has been alive for three days so far in TWM and I just gotta say how in the heck am I supposed to not freeze to death before day 5??????

The smartest way is to ensure you have better gear BEFORE you even touch the mountain.

No tutorial? No how to videos?

There is this thing called the Internet. You obviously know the basics of using it since you managed to make it onto this forum... Now, use it to find tutorials. You might try YouTube. I would recommend Hadrian as he has a survival school series and is a very calm, thoughtful player.

Also, the episodes of the game are supposed to be tutorialish, especially if you try them on easy.

You paid a minimum on a game that has been getting regular updates and regular communication from the Devs, without requiring paying more money for expansion packs.

There's only one game I can think of that really has that same kind of consideration from the devs behind it and that would be Minecraft.

This game and its survival mode is supposed to give you the feel of trying to survive in the wilderness anyway. I think back on my early days of playing when I was frustrated with not knowing where to find a pot for water with fondness. Back then there weren't any pots for water and my naive self didn't know I didn't need a pot to melt and boil snow for water.

  8. Dude,

Ya'll complained the game was too easy, they made difficulty levels, then ya'll complained it was still too easy, they made interloper. How much harder do you want it to be? A blizzard every other day? Temperatures you have no hope of surviving 10 IRL minutes in when the weather is calm? Wolves and Bears that seek you out from many miles away, never stopping?

I don't know about you but I play the game to have fun and every time I tried to play stalker I ended up in an area where no matter which path I took I had no hope of escaping a wolf. Heck they made some more challenges for you guys and the story mode even has difficulty levels to appease you folks.

  9. Apart from the story mode, the Winter's Embrace was the most intense. So many points in time where the weather turned cold while I was between good spots to camp, and even once I got good clothes, it was still dangerous.  At one point I was basically blindly navigating in a blizzard trying to get to the radio tower in Pleasant Valley.

I have been in the same areas as you and had the same experience, more rifles than syrup.  (I am playing the PV start game).

Because I like to play long games, 500+ or 1,000+ days I prefer to avoid using things like  gun cleaning kits, whetstones, cured leather, etc. , (I need to keep them for later in the game), so I have taken the rifles to BI Cannery for repair.  This has meant that I have had little time for general travelling around in the hope of find syrup.  I have now reached Day 263 and have probably only found a dozen syrups.  I haven't found a syrup in the last 50 days.

To make up for that I now have good warm clothes and have Level 5 in key skills, so I shall have a trip to Broken Railroad to see what I can find there.  I should go to TWM and HRV but that could be hard work, so I shall do BR first.

Now that I think about I'm wondering if I should delay going to the peak and head back to the Broken Railroad...

But there is one already: "Straight To The Heart: Use or consume 250 Coffee, Energy Drinks or Emergency Stims - The effects of Coffee, Energy Drinks, and Emergency Stims last 25% longer"

Yeah but... I'm not quite sure it really is best to have them all lumped together.

  12. If lighters are addes, there should be a risk of getting burnes by it when in use. Those things get HOT and I imagine IRL there is some risk of worse happening seeing as most lighters are plastic.

  13. I swear I've asked for this... That being said, I had one (thermos brand, metal, red) and I used it to take coffee to work with me in western WA, USA during the winter. It took about an hour and a half to get to work and by the time I got to work the coffee would be lukewarm which really isn't warm at all.

  14. From personal experience I only have issues when the only thing on my stomach is the caffeine source...

That being said, what if caffeine jitters was a feature in the game comparable to cabin fever or hypothermia. Depending on the circumstances, your risk factor goes up the more coffee you drink and drinking coffee on an empty stomach would be riskier. Perhaps adding condensed milk would decrease the risk...

Add in some sort of badge or feat connected to coffee consumption and it would be something of a challenge to use coffee appropriately.

I think it was in my first n00b games. I somehow found myself between a moose and a bear. The bear was coming after me the moose charged me and then I got broken ribs.

When I first started playing it was well before the moose was even teased. My biggest fails were the first several attempts to survive. Now when I was first starting out it was also before you needed a pot or an empty can to melt and boil water for safe drinking, and I would keep starting out near a small not-really-cave area and would die of cold and dehydration.

I avoid bears as much as possible and really try not to get into it with the wolves even today.

    Hi 👋

Personally, I don't see it as I am paying for games I don't want to play, I see it as access to a library of games, like Netflix is access to a library of films and series.

I have five kids and we have a variety of media sources, so having a digital library of films, series and games is brilliant. Then we have options to purchase any new titles if we wish to.

Each to their own though, I guess. :)

I like the game pass challenges. It has actually gotten me trying out games I wouldn't bother with otherwise and while not every game I've tried has been my cup of tea so to speak I have found enjoyment in a fiar number of them.
