Lighting questions

I guess this can go either here or suggestions thread, but I noticed some areas are darker, which is cool because i find it more realistic, however, I find the stove lets off less light than I feel it should. Example, at the camp office in mystery lake even with the stove going I cant see the end of that top room. I was wondering how you all have found to combat this. laterns are nice but the fuel is hard to come by. I havent tried laying down a torch, but that kinda kills the mood as that would cause a fire in real life.
