Preserve meat

Will it be possible to preserve raw or cooked meat by digging it into the frosty ground in a later version of the game?

Preserving meat (and fish) has been requested quite a few times already, but I think digging it into the frosty ground is a new suggestion.

I would love for the ability to preserve food to be added, and I don't really care by what method. I would prefer a way that will allow me to take the preserved food with me (like smoking/ making jerky) though.

Yes this has been requested many times but I didn't know the status if preserving meat is a future options for the game. Same with candles. They would add so much atmosphere to the game.

Wouldn't it be cool to dig a hole and put the grocery in it to preserve it? The spot where the food has been placed isn't visible at all anymore. So the player has to memorise the spot or put e. g. a piece of wood on top of it. And of course if fluffy or a bear comes by and smells it wouldn't they have the feast of their lives :-) Tough luck for the player.
