ZOC Miner's Footpath mine entrance

When you enter the mine from the entrance by the miner's footpath, there is a machine that looks like you can drop down into it. Can anyone confirm that you can go down there without getting stuck? The drop looks just far enough that it might cause a sprain, so I didn't get to see if the hole at the center actually leads somewhere. Thanks.

Yes, you can go into it.  It takes you to the next level down.
