Stuck on buried quest

I've collected the gear from the chopper and accidentally opened the door to the outside walkway first.. I've since been to the foreman's and picked up the note but I'm not getting the prompt after going back through the outer walkway door..have I broken it?

I just carried on and it's back on track..

Or was til I opened the gate..then it crashed..
