Dominique
I love walking in the forest and listen to the snow crunched and the birds chirp. One can hear also a woodpecker busy at work. But there is one noise I wonder what it is. Some kind of deep throated cooing. Any idea what bird or animal it is ? Dominique
MarrowStone
Owl or loon? Where were you?
Dominique
It happens in many places. You may be right with the owl . Doesn't loon quack like a duck ? I've never seen/heard one...

Owls usually coo in short bursts, loons sort of do this mournful "howl" or a quick call that sounds like someone spamming between two notes on a wind instrument quickly.
