electrix
If this is by design, then I am sorry to have brought it up but; When harvesting boots, any kind, you only get leather. To repair boots, you need leather but also need cloth. It seems really illogical that cloth isn't harvested also (based on the condition of the boots of course). I assume that if it is needed to repair, it previously existed on the boots?
EternityTide
I see your logic, but the size of cloth you would recover would be small and quite damaged unless specialist tools were used, like an unpicker (not available in the game). From what I can tell, the harvesting process is the player physically tearing the fabric apart. If you've ever done this with a shoe (alas, I must confess I have done this a number of years back) You'd find that the fabric you recover is barely worth use.
