Stuttering Solution

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I've discovered that disabling the steam overlay for only The Long Dark has gotten rid of the stutter I had been experiencing for months now. Before that I always had to play in windowed fullscreen mode, but with that option removed I had to find this workaround.

Whats a Steam overlay? Is that like a second Steam window actively open?

I always close Steam on my desktop, at least the open main steam pop up. Its still running in the start up menu in the bottom right corner of my screen but i never keep Steam up and open, in any game. But i wanted to ask as it might be something i still have running and wasnt sure exactly what it was LOL.

It's the 'menu' that pops up when you press shift + tab while playing a game through steam.
