I just got home from work.  I read some of the news/non-news today but not as much as I would have liked.  Did the game, itself, get updated at all today?  Patched or anything?  It didn't, right?  The countdown was just to the announcement and nothing else?

Yeah, thanks.  That's what I'm gathering.  I'm still reading the wreckage on Reddit.  I haven't even started thinking about the Steam forums, yet.

No update yet. Playtesting for the final sandbox update on the way though. The main point of the countdown was to build hype and get people interested. I imagine it was mainly there so we would gossip, and get our friends interested, both those who do and don't own the game. As well as some free publicity from journalists
