Newsprint Roll only 100 grams but doubles in weight after harvest?

How can something weigh more AFTER your harvest it? The newsprint roll is 100 grams yet you can get 4 tinder plugs weighing a total of 200 grams after you harvest it. That don't seem right! Is this by design or a bug or an oversight??? Why are tinder plugs 50 grams? Maybe they should be 25 grams, which is more reasonable.
