If you discover an area or enter a location it displays the name of the location in the top left hand corner and slowly fades away after a few seconds.

If you hold tab after it appears and continue holding it, and even if you travel far away once you let go of tab it still displays the name of the location you were in from long ago.

 

Don't know if this is by design or a repost sorry if it is.
