Good morning! I've finally gotten around to registering after lurking on the forums for far too long. The new update pushed me over the edge! 

I come from a military background which includes a fair bit of time in the SERE / survival arena, and (aside from its great aesthetics) that probably explains my initial attraction to the game. The Long Dark gets the player to make some very realistic decisions about prioritizing time, energy and resources. The degree of unpredictability is incredibly finely balanced. Applying real-world principles absolutely works in the game; clearly it's not meant to be a simulator, but it gets pretty close at times.

I look forward to spending some time here.
