You should get a badge to your name depending on how much reputation you have.

200 bronze 

500 silver 

1000 gold 

there should be also be other rewards for having a high reputation. Leave your ideas in the comments.

For what purpose?

Also, this is hugely dependant on the users who read a specific post - some give reputation, some others don't and that's perfectly fine for me - I sometimes tend to forget it.
