  1. There are a bunch of "holes" like this that I have experienced in the game. Two most recent I can recall are in BR, there is a fence that looks like you can squeeze through over near the Old Substation. If you try to walk through, you are trapped and no amount of wiggling, crouching, or cursing gets you out. No sprain, so I just reloaded and moved on. The second one in recent memory was in Ash Canyon up on High Meadow. There is a triangle there that looks like it goes around a corner, but does not. Step on it, and reload or die.

  2. I posted about this issue a looong time ago here...might have been one of my first posts and what caused me to register for this forum!

I was in PV at the farmhouse, clear day, pop out to see what's up. See a bear over near the car. One shot him with the regular rifle (all that existed then). Stoked, walk up to him and...cannot interact with the carcass!  Super upset because it was my first one shot kill, I wanted that fur, and I needed that meat! Have killed 30+ bears since and not had it happen again.

  3. I started varying my style of play from one set lineup, to multiple lineups depending on my current objective. Normal lineup is the warmest and most animal proof clothes. This is a heavy lineup. I then carry a bunch of food, water, and all the tools/weapons/ammo. I go light on the first aid, but not as light as I could. With the DLC, started wearing a light outfit that was still warm, but no where near the protection. In all cases up until now, I have gone with Vaughn's rifle to help with weight as a rifle is a rifle, though the longer range version is tempting...especially now that the rifle holster is here. That does mean some crampon rethought, which I have not taken off since I got them! I already get too may sprains as I tend to carry at or over my limit. Light lineup limits food as well, and I compensate by leaving a trail of meat/water on the normal paths I travel.  A third lineup is the heavy clothes, but I leave more tools and weapons and food behind. This is really nice because you can whisk across the map and gather a lot of goodies to take back to base camp, but adds a little more risk cuz no flare for bear for instance. If you know the maps well, and don't get caught doing something sketch, this works pretty well. So situational dependent, still working on lineups, but these three are now ones I consider before each outing. This DLC added a few nice things that I need to work into the mix and figure out, which keeps the game fresh and I am a fan of. The game is fun as is, but gets stale after a while if there isn't something new to do or think about. Glad HL is doing this DLC and I was super happy to fork out some cash for it. I got in on the deal right after beta or whatever, Steam sale to boot, and sometimes felt like I was stealing from the devs because I paid so little for a game I have played more than any other game I can remember...

  4. Done!

    A few last notes:

    • Got the new rifle holster - nice but hate to have to choose between it and crampons!
    • Got the new tactical balaclava - really like that look over the green Shrek
    • Ended up with 5 kilos of extra wires and fuses...wondering if they are going to have a use later?
    • Wondering if the story line in this is hinting to what is to come in Wintermute? Interesting details...
    • Love the Gamma bunker! Huge, lotsa space and goodies
    • A little sad for this to be over...sigh
    • Two odd things: first going into FA, I see a wolf, shoot him, he runs bleeding, track him, get to the airfield and still tracking, but no more blood spots, didn't die and I tracked him a loooooong way; still leaving footprints just no blood and definitely the same wolf
    • Odd #2: I did not see another animal spawn in the 5-6 days in FA, no bunny, no wolf, no deer, nada
    • Hiked out, sitting in the RR  depot before the long trek to TWM; have more gear than I can carry PLUS a lot I left in the depot on past runs
    • This DLC was a lot of fun, got lotsa new gear, new prepper caches to hold up in, and more things to decide how or if to use
    • Can't wait until the next update...

  5. I am now sitting in FA, awaiting the aurora or glow fog to come so I can complete this wonderful content. I have a number of new items, not all of them, but many, and am happy for that. I have about 2-300 rounds of ammo due to this update as well, so I am going to be able to survive a long time as long as I don't - do - something - stupid, lol. I had dumped a lot of items when last here, including ammo, so I was happy to retrieve those items. Guessing I will find more stuff once the aurora comes and have some hard decisions to make as to what to haul out of this region. Happy as hell with this DLC...looking forward to what the devs have in store for us going forward!

  6. Why yes, I found it funny so took a few screen shots.

Another new bug I encountered yesterday when reloading the pistol. I had two bullets left, reloaded, put away pistol, looked at ground and there was only one shell there. First and only time I have encountered this issue. No SS of it, unfortunately.

I can post the bug on the door to the portal later today.

  7. Well friends, I have been plowing through this update:

Got PV repaired and found a prepper cache, removed all the goodies, and headed back to TWM to regroup. Got all my gear in order, headed back out, destination Bleak Inlet! Decided to go the FM route, and made good time. Hit one of the hunter's blinds and got set upon by TW. Killed all but one, as directed by the wise folks on this forum, and made my way to the trailer and then to the Cannery. Killed a bunch of TW and made my way to the door to wait for an aurora to open. I had the code from my last trip here where I came the other route and stayed at the Cannery Worker Residences. Aurora came on about night 3, so had time to gather all the goodies, sort them, get wood, get meat, get water, ...the usual survival stuff. Got in, there was a wolf inside! It bit me, I stabbed it, it started running, so I went about my business. It later attacked a second time so I shot it. More meat. Anyhow, got all my tools to 100%, made some bullets and ammo, and moved back to the trailer. Shot the moose, single shot to the head, boy I have had a lucky streak on shots! Meat for dayz!!  Waited for the next aurora and started searching for the prepper. Found it pretty easily plus a fine cache with 10 rifle bullets, MRE, other goodies. Oh, also found the aviator hat along the way as well. Survived a TW attack and falling through ice, made my way back to the trailer. Again, here with more loot that I want than I have the ability to carry. Going to stick here for a bit, repair some more items, and make as many bullets as I can stand to spend time on, then head back to TWM, dump off my new goodies, and head to the airfield for the final chapter. This has been a lot of fun, again got me out of a rut in play style and places I visit. After finishing the DLC, think I will start a new run to keep me occupied until the next DLC release.

  8. The door on TWM hut now sometimes swings into the wall and completely disappears and thinks it is closed when it is wide open! Door was always a bit weird because it would swing in either direction, but never saw it become one with the wall until today.

  9. OK, now that HRV is finished, I moved on to PV. Got the last system online, and found:

A prepper in PV!  Looted it because it is way west and I just don't go there much. Am 2/3rds the way through the DLC...going too fast! I want more! lol

  10. Was in ML, near Trapper's Cabin, when I encountered a bear. Shot once with a .303 and then later with an arrow. Up on the ridge, tracking him as he walked around. Suddenly, when he was near Max's Last Stand, the bear started screaming and running! I hid behind a tree as it was coming right at me. What the heck can scare a bear like that, other than me shooting him???

  11. Once I walked away from the computer while playing, got distracted by something shiny, and forgot I was still playing. Died of thirst, hunger, etc. Was around 300 days and it was a devastating loss. Almost did it again this run where I am closing in on 400 days.

  12. Wow, after over a year (in game) of survival mode, I finally tonight mended my bedroll and got the final piece of the SS puzzle, Mending 5 Master! That was a very long time coming skill to achieve! Got 10 points from a book in HRV, which pushed me close to the finish line. Went to Milton to dump loot, sewed up all my clothes, back to HRV and first item I repaired got me to perhaps my favorite game accolade ever! Glowing right now...

  13. Found a second cache which was ok loot, not as good as the first one. Also found another plane I cannot seem to find a way to...yet.

Walked right up on a bear which scared the heck out of me. I don't think he saw me, so I took off in the opposite direction and found a spot to hide. An a blizzard hit. Was able to keep a fire going one stick at a time until it cleared.

Ended up finding my way out, went to Milton for the night, dumped some of the loot, and went back for more. Hanging out in Valley Cave until I get time to play later tonight...

Have not found a bunker here...but still 25% of the map not explored and a lot more than that with the short wave...

  14. I thought I would hate it here, but I think I like it as much as TWM! There is a lot of loot here, the Signal Void quest is fun as it makes me get out of my rut and go places I would likely not go as I am a creature of habit. Found a wrecked plane in tonight's aurora...not much useful loot, but some clothes and running lowish on cloth so I will take that. Ran into a wolf in the ice cave, panicked a lil, but ended up taking him out without a scratch. Left him there for the return trip. I think I have explored nearly 75% of the map so far and have more loot than I can ever take back. Found a beer skin, which I never find AND a moose satchel! This place has more wood and coal than any other region, another reason to like it. Finally found the way over to the Signal Fire, lotsa loot there. Guessing I have 5-6 maples and more birches in various caves curing. Gonna be hard to pick what to take and what to leave, for sure. Will likely stick around for at least one or two more auroras, as well as map out the west side of the region. Still a little unsure how to get out of here, as I took an unorthodox entrance in (Yeah, I fell off a cliff, sorta, kinda).  It'll be fun figuring that out!

  15. I am actually finding this place to be pretty nice, and I don't think I have ever been here in Survival mode! Today has been pretty epic already:

    • Worried about running out of matches as I need to start a lot of fires, contemplating heading back to get a bunch and come back, which would be a bummer. Climbed up to a new area, enter cave, search dead guy, 95% striker. Cha-Ching!
    • Wanted to move to Lake Cave as my base before next aurora. Haul a bunch of wolf meat up to the other cave on that level and spend the night. Get up, go to the lake and snag 2 bunnies for later. Get lost, need sleep, find way back to cave, eat/drink/sleep.
    • Next day is sunny. Go to Monolith Lake. Moose between me and my cave! Climb up on rocks, take out Vaughn's: one shot head shot the moose! Stoked! Food for weeks AND I see a buck and doe to the side along with the rabbit spawn. Gonna be a good spot to hang for a while, I think!
    • Enter cave. Ravaged wolf, more food. Then I check the bag and find a Sewing Primer! This is the last skill I need to get to level 5 and I think the book will get me over the top as I am very close!!
    • So between the striker, moose, and primer this has been one of the luckiest days in this entire survival run. Now on to finish Signal Void, w00t!

  16. Finally an aurora! I found my first cache and something else!

Using the shortwave on yellow, I located a nice little cache. Trick is to follow the needle for direction and light for distance. Once you are over it, the second trick is to look at the snow and it will allow you to dig up the cache! Neat!! I got some pretty nice loot too! Box of rifle ammo, MRE, flares, marine flare, emergency stim. Put it on blue, and found two more signals, but they are above me on the ridge and am too tired to climb, so gotta wait for another aurora I guess. I do have coffee so may try to get up there, but not likely going to make it and don't want to get myself extended in this place with no man made shelters!

  17. I have had this happen a lot, before the update. I don't think it has happened since the update. I picked up more coal from one piece than I could carry...20 kilos or so. It almost always happens to me in caves, near caves, but not always. It may have to do with picking up stones, because I never used to do that but started to a while back when @Leeandareminded me about rock cache for storage. After that, I ran into the bug a bunch. Didn't want to report it though as who doesn't want a ton of coal?!? I have a pile of it at the cave entrance near Carter Dam and at the other end in PV. I also picked up 10+ stones, 10+ sticks multiple times. Also have not picked up stones since the update, so perhaps I will try that and report back if it repeats.

  18. Ugh, charcoal...yeah like I am going to take it and immediately use it! lolz I usually end up hitting H immediately and eventually dropping it in a pile.

So I have had the same issue with dark interiors and the OPPOSITE in some interiors as well. In some places (e.g. Camp Office), where I used to need a light source at night, I can see well enough to move around the room and navigate to where I need to go. And in some of the caves, I don't need a torch at all (the one to Milton, Carter Dam, etc) in the daytime. Definitely agree that the interior at the dam itself is a lot darker than it was.

Still sticking with the accidental discharge as my #1...waste of valuable bullets is a crime!
