if we could shorten the rifle with a hacksaw and remove the stock
Well, it would be a terrible rifle that you could probably only shoot from the hip, and the recoil would be rough and limit follow-up shots. But on the other hand, it could be quite a bit lighter. You'd probably want to remove the last 6 inches of barrel because it would be very hard to hit anything anyway. Could be interesting.

@Max21 If you want to one-shot the moose, a head shot with the bow at level 5 archery seems just as likely to do it as any other method. Like Raphael mentioned, the flare gun's not really for hunting. It's especially not for hunting in interloper as you can be a hundred days in and only have 4-5 flare rounds available.

It doesn't work anymore. I hit at least 12 times in the moose's head.
I don't think it's guaranteed at all. It's a possibility, but not certain.

If you're going to kill a moose with a flare gun in one shot, it has to be a head shot.

I'm curious now. Is there some reason we need to be cryptic talking about mods?

For me, it's the interior lighting. How a room with multiple windows can be deep in gloom at 9AM when it's a sunny day outside always bothered me.

What on earth is that club thing next to the tool belt?

I have found the spelunker's lantern a few times in the transition cave between Timberwolf and Blackrock. Also on the tops of Echo Peak East/West. Can't remember which one it was, sorry.
On a couple occasions I found it in the TWM cave that has one end close to the last rope climb that takes you to the summit.
As Leeanda says, it is often in the waterfall cave near Eric's Falls.

You may be interested in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). This is in the Atlantic of course, but it shows how large quantities of meltwater can disrupt very important ocean currents that help form the climate. For example, if the AMOC were completely disrupted, England would have much colder winters because it would not be receiving the flow of warm ocean water from the tropics that it always has.

Yeah, considering that username, I think we can trust this guy.

Spoiler
I believe you're closest at about 34 seconds, looking right at it, but I don't know why your radio isn't beeping unless this isn't the "full aurora" state (which it appears to be from the sound and light intensity).

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Hinterland included that mod in a screenshot or contest at some point. I could be mistaken.

There is a mod right now (and it's been around for some time) that allows you to craft candles from animal fat. You make the tallow first, and then make it into a candle. It has a nice lighting effect, and it fits into the game very well. It's called Candlelight.
It's a nice stopgap for the weird interior lighting, and it adds something cosmetically at the same time.

Anyone who intentionally lets a mountain lion into their house deserves whatever they get.

Not a lurker, but I imagine they don't want to bother with making a dedicated forum account when they can use the TLD subreddit for the same purpose.

I've always assumed this noise was shutters / metal roofing / flashing getting buffeted by the wind. But who knows?

so boiling is not 1/2 C...
Piddy is saying that the moment the last of the ice (or snow) melts the water would be close to zero C. It can't go higher than that because the heat is going into making the phase change between ice and water. After all the ice is completely melted, the fire can start increasing the temperature of the water.

One place where they should show up should be as items from beachcombing. Maybe inside containers, suitcases, trunks, or whatever. Just add them to the items that can be inside containers and washed up.
A washed up shipping container that you could enter would be neat. Almost anything could be in there.

New post death mechanic - ok - yeah!

Personally I'm not interested in the new feature, but we'll see what it looks like when it gets implemented. I would like to see some small distinction / badge / whatnot for playing without it, or maybe some kind of nice little trinket with minimal effect on gameplay.
