  1. The issue is somewhere in the input method they're using i feel. If you play using keyboard & mouse input (even "false" one using the steam overlay, just selecting a "wasd + mouse" config) it works. 60 FPS mostly stable (barely drops under 55 here and there). I can have a very comfortable 40 FPS for hours. But no gamepad inputs, very annoying for inventory management. It's sad cause they've been doing a super good job with the steam overlay, you can pretty much configure any action you like, both in game and in menu... And as not so many people know this issue i guess most people play the game at 30 FPS (sometimes dipping under 30) just by using the default setting. People have been asking for performance issue on reddit... I tried contacting the support in December, bumping the old thread here or on the steam forum... But no answer, yet. edit : The issue has been reported for month now that i think off (July or august from the last year i feel), the steam deck is my only gaming platform nowadays it's hard to justify supporting the studio if they're ok with that. And it's not reassuring for the next Hinterland game neither i have to say.
  2. My turn to bump, this issue is still happening on the deck sadly. The team did a fantastic job with the steam UI, we can configure any action both in game and in the menu, this is by far the most customizable and precise way of playing TLD (with both the analogic movement from the stick and precise gyro aim, different input for shooting and grabbing stuff so no more shooting the snow when miss clicing a stick etc... playing on the deck is such a sweet experience, specially in long winter night on with a hot cup of tea on the sofa). But you simply can't use the default config if you want more than 30 fps, which the deck can do with ease. For now as a fix i did a custom steam UI set up, that send keyboard and mouse inputs, and i have a very solid and smooth 50 to 60 fps in very high settings ( i even push the sliders up than the default max). I'm playing at 40 FPS to save up the batteries but it's a choice, you can (and should) be able to play at 60 if you so desire. But atm if you're playing with the default setting the game struggle to keep 40 FPS sometimes even going below 30. This is pretty big. :/
  3. Good to know, thanks for the answer. Hope we'll have a way to activate the gyro without any weapon then, and the possibility to choose the right/left axis with a future patch.
  4. Hey ! Almost a year after but you did it ! The last patch allow us to configure how gyro work without modifying the stick setting. And it's a million time better ! Thanks for that. Now there's still some option missing to make the gyro 100% efficient. That is a option to allow for "yaw/roll" gyro meaning we could use our controller gyro (now the gyro works for a handled switch, not docked with a pro controller, it's a different gyro axis that is used). And also make that the "aiming" button (L2) works when you don't hold a weapon, so we could use the gyro also when aiming at object or anytime we feel like it, not only in combat (i know we can have it "always on" but it's not ideal neither if we don't have a way to disable it for repositioning the device when needed). I have no idea if you guys read those comments, i admit i was a little bit "bitter" to see no answers from you concerning those demands since last year, but i'm pretty happy to finally have this patch (i'm a patient gamer :3). It's a shame cause it would make TLD experience so much better on switch. Hope you read it and we'll have a way to fine tune our controls on this version to.
  5. I just came here to say exactly that. Thanks oakwooden cause, english isn't my native language so that would have been way more complicated to describe. I've just bought the game on switch, waiting a little discount as i already play it on PC. The port is great, and i'm so happy to be able to have this gem on the go. But even if the game isn't a shooter, we do point at small item very often, gyro is such a blessing for console FPS (i'm also first a PC gamer and gyro was such a relief for me when playing with a gamepad) and the game feel of The long dark would benefit a tone if done right. I really hope someone at hinterland will read that and we'll have some patch one day. ❤️
