  1. So I was attempting to do the Nomad Challenge and noticed very early on my days weren't being counted. I restarted it and again my days weren't being counted. I reported the issue but I was just wondering who else encountered this problem and what did you do about it?

  2. After a total of 7 attempts to complete the Hopeless Rescue Challenge, I finally managed to succeed!

Most attempts I got hopelessly lost, or took too long due to bad weather and poor clothes except for my 6th try which had been my best run yet. I had found some really good clothing right off the bat and found not only a revolver, but a rifle as well before I had even left the ML region. I was making great time. Then 4 wolves decided to attack me one after the other after just entering PV, and my stupid self kept clicking the wrong button when trying to shoot at them:/ Needless to say after that failure I was done with trying.

But then I gave it one last shot and whaddaya know? I did it! I retrieved the distress pistol from the summit of TWM and fired it off the top of the lighthouse in 6 days 10 hours and 59 minutes. It was a good feeling to finally get it after failing so much:))))

  3. I actually played WINTERMUTE before I did Survival Mode or challenges and it's actually what really pulled me into TLD. I think its slightly unfair to intensely criticize the storyline, characters, and dialogue before the final two episodes have been released. It kinda seems like reading half a book and deciding its crap and doesnt make sense... like of course stuff doesnt make sense because the whole thing hasnt been read yet. Yes the names are weird, some of the characters are weird and alot doesnt seem to quite add up, but we just dont have the whole story yet.

I feel your ridicule of Molly is quite far off. Its clear she was in an abusive marriage, and she wasnt able to properly cope and heal which instead resulted in her hatred of men which festered into homicidal ideations and actions. Your question where are all the real people... Molly is one of them. Her story is quite realistic. Acting like it isn't is rather naive.

WINTERMUTE is most definitely not a glorified tutorial.

I mean no disrespect when saying this but this angry rant over how much you hate WINTERMUTE and how you think its a waste of time for the devs and players combined reads like a salty, indignant teenager. This isnt me saying everyone has to love the storymode because not everyone has to, but implying that WINTERMUTE is a waste of time feels rather disrespectful to the people who put their time and effort into creating it.

  4. I was walking through TWM on my 4th attempt to complete the Hopeless Rescue Challenge when I came across a black bear. It hadn't seen me yet so I crouched and started creeping up the side of the hill hoping I could just remain unseen and the bear would just walk the direction I was coming from. Still had my rifle handy though. It was about halfway past me when I shifted the slightest bit. Next thing I know it roars and beginnings lumbering up the hill side directly towards me. I aim my rifle and boom! the bear just collapses on spot. I was so shocked that a) hit my mark and b) killed it with just ONE shot. I've only had one bear kill previously so this was very exciting for me!

pretty. although i would add hands. She's outside in a snowstorm. Let her cover her face with her hands.

and at first i thought it was a look through the glass at the street. If you add frozen patterns, it will be even cooler.

    What did you draw with?

Thank you:) I used Procreate on my ipad and I definitely do want to rework this some so thank you for the suggestions as well

  6. I killed a black bear outside of Quonset Garage in CH! It honestly was fairly uneventful. I set out in the morning armed with my rifle and began creeping around, looking for the bear I had seen wandering around a few times. I got lucky. After about 10 minutes of looking around I saw him. Big Ol' Black bear was lumbering along the road coming from the nearby logging path just on the edge of the Coastal Townsite. I crouched to remain undetected and quickly snuck to the edge of Quonset, dropped a raw coho salmon as a lure then quickly ran to the car on the opposite side. Crouching behind the car near the door, I waited fro the bear to approach the lure. Soon enough he did. Still crouched, I aimed my rifle and pulled the trigger and hopped in the car. I think it hit him in the lower neck area, but he ran off. I waited a few minutes before deciding to start following the blood trail but once I did only after about a minute I saw the bear walking back towards the lure. I ran back to the car and repeated that process two more times. I hit him in the side the 2nd shot, a 3rd shot missed and a 4th hit in the neck. He started stumbling away before collapsing. I slowly walked over to him, not sure if he was dead or napping. Might've shot him in the head just to make sure. I had killed my first bear! I couldn't believe it 10 guts and 26.6 kg of meat along with the hide! My bear hunt was a success!!! However I did die before the bear hide finished curing so I didn't get to use it but still awesome!!

I'm becoming more interested and motivated to pick a fight with a bear and hopefully win. However, I don't know what I should do if I were to go bear hunting. Any advice/help/tips/etc. would be greatly appreciated!

  8. ...I fell to my death on the 37th day......6 days after killing a black bear...and no I didn't fall to my death while climbing...I freaking mis-stepped the slightest bit while walking over the elevated train tracks above the ravine.....literally the lamest and stupidest way to die....mega frustrated that THAT was how my survivor died.

  10. My survivor almost fell to their death today:) Made the trip down the ravine safe and sound, explored and harvested, and took a quick nap. My energy level was just over half full and I thought for sure I could get to the ledge located halfway up the cliff side before running out of steam. Nope. The ledge in near sight my survivor became exhausted. And I mean COMPLETELY exhausted. Panicking I tried to shimmy down the rope slowly, but then my survivor lost their grip and fell.

But luckily my survivors instincts kicked in and they managed to grab the rope about 5 feet before they would've hit the bottom of the ravine. I struggled against the wind to get back to the nearby cave as my exhaustion level dropped deeper into the danger zone. Thankfully I managed to make it to the cave safely. Slept 12 hours then attempted the climb again. This time I made it to the ledge, and then the top safely, but this was a learning experience.

    N E V E R overestimate your survivors ability to climb.

  11. On my 28th day of survival in the Mystery Lake region, my survivor faded into the long dark.

Things had been looking up. Maple and green birch saplings had been found. Rifles and a revolver along with ammo. My survivor had even just bagged their first deer! Then I decided to go exploring, fill in more of the map you know. So there I was trekking alongside the mountainous border of ML. Eventually I decided I should head back down the mountains and make my way to the cabin I had discovered. Trying to find the quickest path down I got stuck. Literally couldn't move a cm in any direction. I quickly quit the game hoping my last save would put me back out from this spot, but sadly no. Trapped, wedged between a tree and the mountain side, My survivor had no option but to wait until they faded into the long dark.

Overall I think I did pretty decent for my first run in sandbox game play. gonna go start over now. Can't wait to see what region I get dropped in next!

  12. I think it'd be helpful if survivors could build temporary lean to shelters out of cedar and fir wood, maybe sticks and scrap metal as well. It'd be like crafting but then it'd show in your inventory and be placed similar to how bed rolls are. It could only be placed up against mountain sides or bigger trees that had fallen over. Just so if you get caught in a blizzard and can't find shelter- due to lack of it, low visibility,  or the threat of succumbing to hypothermia- you can still have a better chance of getting a fire going to escape the inevitable long dark for just one more night.

  13. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has to look away from the screen when snapping a rabbits neck. I remember the first time I stunned a rabbit by hitting it with a stone, I was so excited and happy till I picked it up and it gave me the choice to release it or kill it. I shrieked "NOOOO! WHY WHY WHY!" The guilt consumes me, those big brown eyes staring up at you.
