  1. Currently on sandbox #3, got dropped in TWM but on fellow TLD players advice quickly made my way to PV and have set up camp in the Farmstead. Really excited because I've gathered the supplies need for a bow and some arrows, just waiting for stuff to cure! I'm hoping this run I can at least make it to 50 days.

  2. My survivor has made it 32 days! I've found a rifle and a pistol with plenty of ammo, crafted a bow and even managed to craft an arrow by using the arrowhead harvested from a broken arrow I found (haven't located a forge yet), and sewed a rabbit skin hat!!!! My survivor did almost fall to their death today while making attempt #1 to climb out of the Ravine, but attempt #2 was successful. I have a decent amount of deer hides, rabbit pelts and guts either curing or cured. So far I've explored Coastal Highway, Crumbling Highway, Desolation Point, and the Ravine covering 20% of the map! This sandbox run is going really well, although I am getting a little cocky because I kinda wanna try taking on a bear already. I am playing in pilgrim so its not the most difficult but I don't know. I'm still mulling over the idea. Oh well! I look forward to what comes next either way!!

  3. My 2nd sandbox run dropped me in Coastal Highway (pilgrim) So far so good, much easier than Mystery Lake in my opinion. There's a larger and more concentrated abundance of buildings to ransack, which means more food found, more potable water and more clothing. My survivor has lasted about 8? days I think now and I explored he entire side of the highway including the logging paths ( I think that's what those are) and my most recent site of exploration was Jack Rabbit Island. Killed a rabbit. Still had to look away from the screen. My survivor cheated death twice so far. Once due to food poisoning that brought me down to 10% in overall condition from a rancid tin of sardines I ate without paying attention, and the second time from hypothermia after falling through the ice near the border of CH that's on the water. Once I circle back around to the garage where I set up my home base I think I'll explore the regions nearby, I'm pretty sure one of the two exits I found leads to Pleasant Valley but I'd like to explore a region completely new to me like CH.

  4. So far in about 20 days of surviving I've only explored 10% of the world. My goal playing today is to double that. Oh! Yesterday I saw a bear walking around the unnamed pond in ML, it was the first bear I've seen. I'm now much more anxious about running into a bear now that I've seen one. I'm really really reallyyyyy trying not to get mauled to death this early on.

  5. My survivor has managed to survive 14 days so far in Mystery Lake (pilgrim) and food is becoming an issue. There is a decent amount of deer but with no rifle or bow I can only scavenge what I can from carcasses I find. Snaring rabbits is coming along. I haven't been able to snare one yet, but I did find one of my snares broken so at least I know i had it in a good place, right? Ice fishing is a viable option but the fish I've caught don't fill up my survivor very efficiently and I've had two wolf encounters on the west side of the lake (I set myself up in the big lake cabin closest to the train tracks.) Canned goods and such are running very, very low. If I could just get a rifle or find maple saplings I would at least have the option to hunt deer.

Cat tails! Mystery Lake has over a hundred cat tail stalks. You can live almost a month on that alone. You only really need to eat before sleeping if you need to stretch your food. It's perfectly fine to starve for most of the day.

You can also throw stones at rabbits to kill them. Crouch and wait until they hop in your direction. Then aim between the index finger and thumb. Though snares are more effective. And unlike in real life rabbits aren't very filling, so you need several of them.

I haven't found many cat tails but I'll have to do another sweep and hopefully I'll find some more.

My aim is just so crap when it comes to throwing stones at rabbits sadly:( Out of ten stones I had only 1 hit its mark, I find I get too annoyed and just move on from trying to hit a rabbit. Maybe I just need more practice.

You should see them all around the lake. Also the river between the lake and the dam. And around Unnamed Pond and the river there. Just eat a handful of them to get through the night and that's all you need. You'll lose condition when starving, but gain it during sleep. There is a benefit to staying full, but it's optional
