  1. I love it when the newbies get all pissy.
especially when they get all argumentative and demanding like OP.

Been a member for almost 2 years now and his first post is:

"I don't care who you are, what part you had to do in the development of this game or what you have to say, just fix it."

Hey Raph!  Drop what your doing and get to fixing this asap!
I need warp drive in two minutes or we're all gonna die!!!!

Same here, we've always heated up rocks by the campfire in the winter time and then wrapped them up in an old towel before sticking them into our sleeping bags
before turning in for the night.  Toasty warm.

Lol, my dad used to warm up our ski boots as kids by putting warm rocks in our boots before we would leave the cabin to go snow skiing.
Now, I just use the chemical heaters I get at Big 5 sporting goods...

The issue is due to corpses of all kinds that are generated at the start of a game, or when you first enter a region. As of the latest game update, those corpses tend to despawn after entering a building and exiting - any building.

I hope that helps explain the problem. 😀

Actually it does.  In my recently launced game, I spawned outdoors and I never entered any buildings.  Also the key in my game was in the truck and not on a body so those circumstances never applied.  I now know what to look for so
I'm gonna attempt to trigger the bug the next time I play.
thanks again for the heads up!

    ha ha ha ha!!!

    Fleece Cowl Man goes commando!
He make all his own clothes but apparently he can't craft himself any underwear!!!!
    That's rich!

I think Fleece Man needs the Northfolk clothing mod.  At least he can make some bear skin leggings, eh?

  5. Here's an idea for the modding community if there are any takers?

How about an craftable outdoor fire pit complete with spit and crank turning system?
crank doesn't actually have to work, but it would be cool if it did.  Something that
could cook up to 10 kilos of meat at one time, maybe?

    image.jpeg.dde3aa53771d11cb53edc7d6a3829ae1.jpeg borrowed image from fallout4

the building requirements could be 20-30 stones and maybe 15-20 scrap metal?
the firepit would be a fairly good sized rectangle about the length of the spit.
I think it would take a minimum of 6 pieces of wood just to get it started and the
cooking times maybe would vary on the amount of meat being cooked?   say the
normal cook time for 2-4 pieces of meat, but less time for each 2 pieces added so
that a full rack of 10 kilos might cook in about 4 hours or so.

Since cook times reduce as cooking skill level increases
I don't know if maybe even making the ability to craft the spit setup maybe might be contingent on having reached
level 5 cooking skill just so that the cooking time issue is easier to address.

That looks like the cooking station from FallOut 4
    Outstanding!  I'll take it!

Indeed it is!   There was a cooking station mod that had an entire beast on it, but i wasn't able to find any pictures of it.  This is the best I could do under the circumstances.  hmmm, maybe the modding community could do a little improvement on the outdoor fire setup?

We really need a mod that will drop automatically all the wet guts & skins from inventory to the ground when we click the sleep or wait button🙂

I'd settle for a button that allows me to select a category and just "drop all" as that would be very convenient.
Same goes for putting into a storage container, imagine everything moving into storage on one click and 2 dozen!

My only complaint is that it looks a bit overdone around the stove.

what's a cooking area without counter space?  I'm sure the chef is thinking he needs everybit of space!  lol
Well at least he's practicing good food preperation skills by keeping the meat and fish separated, no chance of
    cross contamination, am I right?

    ding ding ding!

Thanks I will keep a spreadsheet like you said.

Spreadsheet does sound like a good idea, but then I just made tick marks on a sheet of paper
as it was way easier to do while I was playing.  I think placing something by each cairn you find like @hozz1235 suggests
makes a lot of sense especially if you are truly exploring the area and not using a location guided map that reveals the resting place of each object.
I kept re-discovering the same old cairns over and over.   My single biggest complaint about trying to count cairn, is the fact that the greater majority
don't have any messages.  It really gets boring and laborious to find cairns only to get the old "The Story has been Written yet" message.  So lame...

  10. Interesting idea for sure.
I've got a game called Savage Lands that is an open world swords and sorcery like survival game where it's kinda
winter all the time.  There are animals to hunt for food and such but of course there are also skeleton warriors and dragons too.  There is no permadeath like in TLD, but if your character is killed you respawn at a predetermined spawn point pf your choosing completely naked and unarmed leaving your fully clothed and equiped corpse laying on the ground where you died.  If you are not too far away, you can go and search for your corpse in hopes of retrieving your gear and possessions.

I think finding another player's gear and looting the body would definitely bring an interesting twist to TLD if something like that was ever to be implemented.

Love it!🙂   Wish we really could do that though!

    But you can!

you just need a pc so you can use the correct mods!

I used to be a console user but gave up and switched over to pc when I saw everybody else modding their games and I got tired of being stuck in vanilla.
    If console is plain vanilla,
then pc is like Super fudge chunky rocky road peanut butter moose tracks with extra pralines plus sprinkles with whipped cream and a cherry on top!

Was Mathis the same or was he even there?

The Redux only covered Episodes 1 and 2
and as I remember it before the updated versions were released,  I think the player just turned into the room there and
almost immediately got conked on the head.  If I remember right, the scene was Mackenzie just blacking out from the hit as
Mathis was starting to talk.   I think maybe they showed his evil grinning face.  That was a one small cut scene from a long time ago
so I could be remembering it a little different.

But yeah he did look pretty much the same before the Redux,
maybe not as well drawn and defined back thenEverything that came after that is what you are playing today.

  13. A bear and a rabbit are crapping in the woods

The bear looks over inspecting the little pellets dropped by the bunny
and asks the rabbit, “does crap stick to your fur?”

    The rabbit replies, “no”

The bear grabs the rabbit wipes his butt with the rabbit's long soft ears and leaves...  💩

Canadian military rations equivalent to US MRE would be the Individual Meal Pack (IMP).

Might also consider that there would be Cold Weather versions of MRE/IMP because the entrees in the rations would freeze solid.  Cold weather rations tend to be more freeze-dried items that get reconstituted with hot water (though cold water probably would do in a pinch).  The addition of water to reconstitute the entree helps with water intake in cold weather.

The Surgeon General current policy says to limit MRE consumption to 21 days or less though tests do not indicate significant problems from longer use.  Usually soldiers would be served regular meals prepared by a mess hall or mess facility.  Obviously combat situations can make that difficult.

So, have you eaten any of these Canadian MREs?  I didn't see anything about cold vs. warm weather rations although I didn't particularly read about the meals details beyond what what was in the accessory packs.  The did all seem to have those chemical heating units in them, so I guess warming up the food shouldn't pose to much of a problem for most users?  I was hoping to find some hot sauce in the MREs but apparently you only find those in American made kits.

on a side note, as an avid snow skier, I always have some of those chemical pocket heaters that put out quite a bit of heat when activated, some brands lasting up to 8 hours.  I can imagine those meal heaters would come into use fairly often by soldiers in cold weather conditions keeping hands or feet warm even after warming food.

Some of these actually sound pretty good -- I think I'd go with the hash browns and granola, esp. if I had some maple syrup along. Or maybe one of the chicken dishes.

Right?  I was surprised with how much stuff came in each meal pack.  Only down side, no tabasco sauce...

Let's not be to realistic - if you are used to a diet of almost 100% meat, your gut biome couldn't handle a MRE.

    -t

Lol, it did say that eating MREs could lead to constipation.  I think we are already suffering from an impacted colon after a steady diet of meat and little to no vegetables.
I hear some of the indigenous people of Canada eat Reindeer Moss, a natural growing lichen.  Apparently it's fairly fiberous and is often used as a filler but it also has some theraputic properties as well.   Lichens have been proven to have theoretically rich nutritional value, and their extracts and active substances have also been shown to have multiple health benefits including anti-cancer, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidative stress, and anti-diabetic.

  17. I was just looking at post made by @Levelgrinderin the Post your Screenshots thread.
Here's a copy of his picture

    TheLongDark_20220202155348.jpg.9bd38d71f3d92218aa8bb8ee77d5b6f9.jpg

and his caption read:    Looks like its MRE for lunch, again.. (Stalker, PS4)

That got me to thinking, what is in a Canadian MRE?
so I looked it up!  Turns out there is a variety of meals and each kit has a huge assortment of varied items.
I did not know this but in Canada the military there calls them IMP short for Individual Meal Packs.
According to some experts, MREs are healthy to eat but are designed for maximum nutrition and caloric intake, not as a long-term healthy food.
Research indicates that eating too many MREs can cause constipation.  ouch...
MREs are designed to last around 3.5 years.  So what do you get to eat?

The following is apparently the IMP line for soliders in 2017.  From what I understand, menus change depending on supplier and year manufactored, so if you have personal
