Lost a game day and much progress, is there recovery?

After playing a few hours earlier today I logged off to write an article for the Wiki. Upon returning to the game I found all my progress from day 200 or so had been lost, about 3-4 hours realtime play but a few days in the game. This included a number of location discoveries and, most annoyingly, a Black Bear kill with the huge meat haul and pelt it provided. Is there some way to recover this lost game progress? And yes, of course I slept (saved) during this time, you can't haul 35+kg of bear meat back to a cabin without a rest in between
