Hi i have been looking into mods for the long dark recently and i'm wondering which ones are the most fun.

(also i could use some tips on how to mod the game.)

I suggest you to go the the tldmod discord (&website for the download whatever the TLD version you use). you'll have all information, from melon loader to install the mod as support for that use.

give it a try, you'll be surprised by this good community.

see here in the modding & UGC section, the different posts of everyone you'll have an idea ofsome posters, but the best way is to go on the website. quite all mods are in the lore of this game.

Some of the most popular mods I've seen from screenshots being shared or Let's Plays:

• "Food Pack" by TKG and "Retro Food Pack" by Thekillergreece and Inarissa are both quite popular. Basically, both add a variety of new artificial foods which can be looted, while remaining relatively vanilla-friendly. "Bountiful Foraging" is similar, adding a variety of harvestable plants and the like for food.
• "Eternal Weather". Quite fun for a challenge, like trying to survive in an endlessly foggy (woooo Silent Hill!) world, or endless Blizzard, etc. Number of youtuber "lets plays" which have used this to good effect.
• Filigrani/Sky Co-op (aka "Skycoop") is also quite popular. This adds multiplayer to a (rather janky, honestly) older build of TLD (iirc it is an early Blackrock patch). Interesting to try out, but it's not permadeath and is quite a different experience from vanilla, and is quite buggy/janky.
