Where to find basic game mechanics?

Where does one go to find the basic game mechanics.  For example I need a fire I have materials in my inventory.  What next?  How do I place objects so that I can make and light a fire?  Is there a  guide somewhere?  Just the very basic stuff so I don't freeze to death (or starve or bleed out ya know) my first night  Thanks

If you play the wintermute story mode, that is a bit of a tutorial.

but... don't be afraid to not know things and fail- part of the joy of the game is working things out for yourself, and dying, trying again and building up your knowledge.  It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it is very rewarding when you start getting past those first milestones by yourself such as first fire, 10 days survived, a successful hunt etc.
