I think this is pretty much guaranteed not to happen anytime in the near future.

the long dark is a game based on the loneliness of a post apocalyptic world, a cooperative would not make sense for that there are other games, this game tries to convey that feeling of loneliness and a cooperative will ruin that feeling.

Co-op survival and struggle of two survivors could be a good experience. But anyway, we should respect decisions of develepers.
