My Fishing Shack by the Sea, aka Adventures in Snaring and Angling

My stores of lamp oil were getting pretty low so I figured I'd head out to my favorite fishing shack by the sea and make camp for a couple of days.  If your hanging out on the the Coastal Highway the one I am referring to is the ice shack furthest out near the open water between Misanthropes and Jack Rabbit Island's.  One of the only ones with a door on it, I guess that is also why I favor it over most other locations.  Up against the open water on one side, makes the area feel a little more secure from the wolves who seem to patrol much more closer inland, especially out there by the log sort.  

 

I am currently favoring the Fishing Camp as my player base, it's rugged but the location is great with plenty of amenities making it a very good place to call home imho.

 

I grab a bag of bear meat and some fuel one of the cooking pots and I've got 10 newly crafted snares that I am going to setting up once I head out over the ice towards Jack Rabbit Isle...  I make it over to Jack Rabbit Island and deploy my snare field, gather some additional firewood and pop on down to the shack.

I see my stuff is still here as I left it from last time, although a maybe a bit damp for now, but I will get the fire going and make it cozy real quick.

I like to lay some deer hides down on the floor and then drop my bear skin rug down before putting down my bedding.  makes me feel like I am staying in a 5 Star luxury hotel!  Did a little fishing, putting some food in my belly and already got some fresh lamp oil for my efforts.  Got the fire built up, time to get some fishing in before it gets too late.  After listening to my character complain about how heavy the pack was starting to get, I called it a night and got a little shut eye.

The next morning, early in the day just at dawn, I wake up early and decided I probably should go and check the snares I had deployed on the way.  Looks like I scored a triple double! It's another double hat trick morning.  Got food for my belly and two hats to make!  what a good way to start the day.

As I get back to camp, it is turning out to be such a nice day, I move my bear skin rug out in front of the shack and lay out my bounty giving thanks to the Earth Goddess for sparing me yet for another day.

I get the fire roaring and start cooking the first of catch.  Yep, got enough fuel but one cooking surface isn't going to make the grade.

Letting it get nice and warm with that door closed that is for sure.  

Decided to leave the snares here...  I can always make more...  Have an ample supply of fuel stacked on the side.  Looks down right inviting doesn't it.  I just sit on the rug enjoying the sunshine as I harvest these rabbits and clean these fish.

Getting an extra fire going just make it so much easier to prep this food for meals and storage.  Surprising how much time you save with three cooking surfaces going.

just about had enough time between fishes to harvest each rabbit.  Sure wish I could cure these rabbit pelts on the floor of my fishing shack...

 

I take a quick tour of the vicinity... all clear as far as i can see. 

Wow, three more snares.  That's 9 rabbits in two days.  gonna have to give this area a little break for a couple months or else I am an going to have to rename the island! lol
