Massive frame drop when lantern is equipped

Does anyone else experience this. I run the game on ultra at 60fps, but no matter what my settings are (lowest or ultra), when I equip the lantern, it drops and stays at 30 or below when outdoors. Most indoor areas are fine. Doesn't matter whether it's lit or not. And as soon as I press H, the frame rate shoots back up before the lantern is out of view. I've tried the latest Nvidia driver (391.35), which lowered my overall frame rate and did nothing to solve the issue. I'm currently back on 344.60.

i7-2600K at 4.7Ghz

MSI Geforce 580 at 970Mhz

8 gigs of ram
