Rabbit mittens and trust.

I played thrugh the first episode but did not get the old lady to trust me enough to tell me about the mittens. 

I then progressed to the second episode and lost all my stuff, i thought this was the way of things so continued on episode 2. After a long time i had made it to the old bear mission, i had 2 more trust levels to go on the trapper and i have the stuff to do so, but when i enter the cabbin the trapper takes the ear and now wont talk to me so i cant get his trust all the way up.

 

Will i be able to get the mittens knowlage from some where else? (I want that achievement)

Do i now have to go back to the first episode (loosing many many hours of play time) to get the mittens and keep the knowledge and stuff now that thats actualy possable, and so i have another stab at getting the trappers trust up, before he refuses to talk to me.

I realy dont want to have to replay like 10 to 15 hours of this game. But if it means doing it now and cutting my losses in the future i will :'(

you can only get that knowledge from Mother Grey (unless they add it in later episodes)
