Jeremiah not talking?

Spoilers for those not there yet. 

In episode 2, once you return the bear's ear to Jeremiah you can no longer speak to him. I wasn't done building up trust yet and I hadn't learned everything yet. I'm guessing I'll need to know how to build a snow shelter. Now I don't want to move on to the dam in case this is a bug that will be patched?  Or is this working as intended?

The same question.  I collected bunch of deer hides to gain his trust but after finishing bear hunt quest you cant talk to him.

I'm also curious about this one. Really wanted to build trust after the quest so I wasn't wasting trust points. Now I'm just stuck with a bunch of stockpiled items for him.
