i cant think of a place in canada that has a sunrise of 6am and a sunset of 8pm in the winter. For instance in Thunder Bay on Dec 1'st sunrise 0827 sunset 1750. I realize this makes the game harder but there is very little visable light between 630pm and 8am, and dec1 isnt even the shortest day and this game likely takes place further north so light would be even less.

Remember though: If the decs would make that realistic, you would have to play 60% of the time in dark or near-dark conditions. And while I do agree that it would be more realistic, it would make the game less fun to play. At least for me. You would have to spend more time indoors, where there's not really much to do compared to the wilderness you can scavenge outside.

There is a trade-off point between realism and making a game enjoyable to play. I think that the devs made a good decision with dawn at 6 am and sunset at 8pm.
