Movement on steep surfaces

I'm not sure if this suggestion has already been posed, but I wonder if there is a plan to refine travel along steep slopes and snow drifts.  I know there is the chance of ankle and wrist sprains from "falling", but this is fairly abstract - you continue to hold any object in your hands and you maintain your position on the slope.  Climbing a steep, snowy surface is hard enough with your hands to balance you - doing it with both hands holding a rifle seems like a great way to drop your rifle down a snowy slope.  I have not had the chance to observe if different footwear chance the chance of "falling".

Falling should have a greater consequence - sliding down a slope or dropping items in your hands.  Survivors with a 30+kg pack should not be mountain goating it with impunity.
