Xbox-one gamepad keybind during combat

Hi all, 

I have a problem during combat with command key from xbox gamepad. 

What are the button i must use to fight a Wolf? 

The only i use its A  key that pump up energy, but how can i hit the animal?

Hi Uther, and welcome to the forums. 

Yes, by filling up the bar during a wolf struggle you can fight off the animal. Having a weapon like a knife or hatchet in your inventory will give you an advantage and the best weapon is automatically equipped for you.

So the only button i must press its A repeatly to fill the bar,  correct? 

The Wolf doesnt die the first time i fill but flee,  why?

Occasionally you will be able to kill the wolf outright, but oftentimes it will run off injured and bleeding. You can track the wolf by its blood trail.
