Just remembered - I also found a bonus pair of crampons earlier on my current run (same one with the batteries). Can't actually remember where they were, but I think it was shortly after I'd grabbed the regular pair from the mine, so I think it was probably somewhere in AC or TWM, but I could easily be wrong. Just lying about in the world in a normal random loot spot - kinda took me by surprise. Don't think I've found the Curator's rifle yet in this run tho, so maybe that was my compensation.

Sadly still no Curator's Rifle on my main run....sigh, still bugged. Also my main HAD the boats that wash up on CH but they were invisible with the loot just floating. And there were two of them right next to each other. Same loot in the same spots. Guess I should be grateful for the double flare guns.

Right before entering Thomson's Crossing's Community Hall: "It's getting dark, time to look for shelter."

I've had this one numerous times right before walking into a house or shelter.

"If I don't rest soon I'm gonna faint" right as I initiate sleep is another one.

  3. This actually makes me want to get back on my main run and see if it can happen there. Plus the Curator's Rifle seems fixed so I'll need to grab that.

If the trader was already added, I'd bet they buy those extras for a high price!

I don't know why but I read your comment in the voice of Resident Evil 4's merchant 😂

  5. Soo this is clearly a bug but I'll take it. I kept going into the window to pass through the Dam and Vaugh's Rifle just kept spawning. Now I have 3 of them. They stopped spawning after the third one.

I think I know the house.  I hate going in and out of the coastal townsite. So many predators just outside waiting for you.

Nothing says "good morning" like a coffee and being mauled by a bear with wolves tracking your bloody aftermath.....oh and dropping your only means of defending yourself in the mauling and realizing only after you get back into shelter.

Not that I speak from experience or anything...ahem...

  7. I stumbled across this on a Voyager run a few days ago and I can tell you as a person that has scoured CH, this is definitely new. The weak ice was a cool touch and freaked me out when I searched the lockers in the crockpot. This makes me want to go to every region again looking for new searchable places. It also gears me up for the new expansion!

  8. I did have a bit of an issue with my main run where I went into the trailer right before the cave system to HRV in Milton past the church. I went into the trailer literally just to save and quit for the night but instead of saving my game it said it had an issue and brought me to the title screen. I hope this isn't permtsince I'm at 373 days in my second attempt at 500 days.

  9. The only thing that sucks to me in Voyager and more difficult runs is weight. The amount you have to carry is tedious. I tend to tackle wolves head on with a revolver and save my rifle for hunting. Might not be the most efficient way to do things and a drain on my ammo but collecting all those flares takes up so much weight in my backpack.

I tend not to characterise the corpses I find around the island, so I didn't really expect to be adding to this thread. But yesterday I found ... something unexpected. Something I don't think I've actually seen in survivor before, which I immediately knew I'd have to drop here. You can craft your own tale tho ...

In all my runs, Ive only encountered this couple once, and in exactly the same place as you did. They made me stop a moment too. As a mythology buff, if I see any corpse that looks like it has some kind of backstory, I leave bundles of cash at their resting place. Money for the afterlife and all that. Yes, I'm a weirdo. No, I don't care.

Nah. That does seem to be a popular place to hunt a bear, and all those cars and the narrow approach do make things fairly easy, but the bear can definitely still get you, and the bridge is just too far away from anywhere that's worth having a meat pile, or even for curing the hide. I've logged 2.5Khrs in the game, and I've only bothered downing that bear a few times, simply because it just isn't really worth it.

For my money, the best place on the island for hunting bears is from the deck of the Riken. The wreck itself makes for a fairly decent local base anyway so it's a good place to have a store of food, the bear's main patrol route goes right past the prow of the boat, and if you stay up on the deck there's no way the bear can get to you (saving some odd glitch, of course). Worst that'll happen is that it gets frustrated and runs off in a huff before you take your shot, but it usually comes straight back anyway and you can get another chance. And even if you don't drop it next to the boat itself, 9 times out of 10 it'll die somewhere up on the road back to its cave, so you don't even really have to hunt for where it fell.

Next best is the kitchen porch at PV farm, which is almost (but not quite) as safe, and as that's usually my main base, that's usually where I bag bears. I've ended up with almost a ton of bear meat on the front porch in some runs.

I like the road that leads the power plant in Black rock if I'm out that way but once on pilgrim I cornered the bear at the end of the road by the wrecked part that's supposed to lead to Narrow Bridge. Thought I'd be a genius and shoot him with an arrow and get an easy kill...nope, got mauled and dropped not only my bow but some meat that was my only food at the time. Up til then I didn't think the wildlife would do that on Pilgrim. I figured they'd just flee. Same thing happened to me in ML on a snowbank with a wolf when he was just trying to eat a deer. I shot, he attacked. Lesson apparently not leaned.

  12. Man, didn't think it possible, but this game even overshadowed Skyrim for me, and that's saying something! I literally survive work and rush home just to survive in TLD. No one comes between me and my survivor's quest to thrive. Thank for everything TLD, hopefully the survival story is still ongoing. This game clearly is nurtured and cared for. Now just fix the Curator's Rifle bug and my experience will be absolutely complete lol.

If they add squirrels, they should also add one of those cute hats with a squirrel tail for you to craft with them

How about taxidermy? I've never dabbled in the world of mods for TLD but I'd bet there's a mod for that lol. If not they should add it in game to spice up a base.

  14. I'd actually love to see the inclusion of squirrels or even foxes. The squirrels could definitely be a source of food or a substitute for rabbits. Not as warm or durable though. Foxes could be another predator and their hide made into another kind of bedroll.

I'm genuinely surprised that at least squirrels aren't a part of this game.
